The Königstuhl is a 568-meter (1,864 ft) hill overlooking Heidelberg and the Neckar River. It offers panoramic views, hiking trails, historical significance, and a peaceful escape into nature.

✅ Highlights ▪︎ Stunning Views: Unbeatable vistas of Heidelberg Castle, the Old Town, Neckar Valley.

• Funicular Ride (Bergbahn): A scenic ride from the city center to the top. A historic lower section and a modern upper section.

🚶‍♂️ How to Get There

Funicular Railway: From Kornmarkt via Heidelberg Castle to the top.

By Car: Accessible by road with parking available.

On Foot: Hike up the Philosopher's Way or the longer Königstuhl trail for an...

Nice view on a clear sunny day. One can reach by cycling, taking the cable car, climbing up on the Himmelsleiter stone steps, by car or by bus 39 from Bismarckplatz. Lot of interesting marked trails nearby and a falconry with shows. We did a combination by parking for free at Königstuhl, walked the 2km Walderlebnispfad for children, climbed down on the Himmelsleiter to the castle and further down to the city, walked the main street and had lunch, took the bus back to the parking at top. Although not signposted, there are good clean toilets outside the cable car station, that are free of cost, couple of minutes walk from...

A very nice experience with 127 years old funicular that you take from Molkenkur to get to Königstuhl. The face lift of the altitude is really amazing. There is a spectacular panoramic view of Heidelberg and distant Mannheim. There are two small shops serving the wine, local biers and warm wursts. There is a small picnic place where you can sit and enjoy the spectacular views while sipping the wine and eating your food. There is a really old chair directly cut out off a tree overlooking the entire downtown and surrounding of Heidelberg. There is a queue system to get...
