Really interesting cave system that was also used as an air raid bunker. It has a parking lot at the top of the hill by the hotel, but you need to go down about 120 steps to reach the entrance of the cave. The cost was about €7 each and was about fair. You get a map with cave location descriptions and it runs about 45min if you take your time and look around
The cave seems well setup with emergency systems and a safety brief before entering. Hard hats -provided- are mandatory. Also, beware the cave spiders on level 12!! :)
Lastly, our visit had a super friendly worker who briefed us and answered questions about the cave. They deserve some credit for being awesome!
Definitely recommended for most ages, though you should be able to walk around crouched a bit and go...
Read moreVery cool experience for the whole family. Was more than doable for us (2 adults and 2 kids ages 1,3,5). I wore the baby and the other kids walked without any difficulty. A few areas to duck through and some steps were mildly difficult to navigate but overall enjoyable and manageable for all of us. Interesting for the kids, not too scary or cold (in appropriate clothing - we wore pants and fleece jackets), not too long. Took us about 30 min l and that included a small amount of exploring past the map landmarks. Bring some snacks - there’s a picnic table! Well lit, highly helpful staff (though tour is self guided other than the map) who spoke English well and was helpful pointing us in the direction of the castle when we were done....
Read moreThere are partly man-made and partly natural (preserved) structures in here. The natural elements include marks left by the wind and waves, and also footprints of lizards left from over 250 million years ago! The tour itself takes 40-60 minutes. The staff is very friendly and they speak English as well. The information inside is available in German, French, English, and Spanish. The ticket price for adults is 6€ and for students the discounted price is 4€. It's especially a good place to bring your kids. The atmosphere inside is cold and humid, so it's best to take a jacket with you. After the tour of the caves, you can go and enjoy the view of Homburg from the top of the...
