ZCOM Zuse Computer Museum Hoyerswerda — Attraction in Hoyerswerda - Wojerecy

The most nerdy museum I've ever seen. Tons of ancient computers, some interesting facts from basics to really less-known things. Some exhibits even gave me the feeling I'm too dumb for them (given I'm quite an educated person). Mostly covers the period from 50s to early 90s, therefore it was a bit "from another world" to me just because I'm too young. Older folks (40+ I guess) from the tech industry will find themselves in heaven. Entrance is cheap, 4-7 Euros. However, nothing is perfect. Firstly, English adaptation is poor and barely existent, so my poor German skills worked full on, and some help of Google translate was needed here and there. A bit distracting. Second important point - I understand why the museum is in Hoyerswerda, but... No sane person would go to this awful village for it. Journey from any bigger city to this place is crazy and everything beyond museum walls is just terrifying. Museums of this level can easily attract people in more normal places, like Berlin or Dresden. After that, it was very hot and of course no AC there, which wasn't a big surprise. I liked the museum, but no way I'm going to Hoyerswerda once more...

Ein sehr informatives, wunderschön und übersichtlich gestaltetes Museum, dass unbedingt einen Besuch lohnt. Recht unscheinbar als Anbau an einem DDR-Plattenbau überrascht das Museum mit seiner umfangreichen Darstellung und den Exponaten aus der Geschichte und Entwicklung der Rechentechnik von Abakus und Rechenstab über die ersten mechanischen und elektronischen Röhrenrechner bis zur heutigen Rechen- und Speichertechnik. Im Mittelpunkt stehen aber natürlich die bahnbrechenden Erfindungen des Conrad Zuse. Alles ist thematisch und chronologisch geordnet ausgestellt und mit vielen interaktiven Möglichkeiten versehen. Will man all diese zusätzlichen Funktionen nutzen, sollte man für den Besuch auch einige Zeit einplanen. Wir hatten uns die Ausstellung wesentlich bescheidener und kleiner vorgestellt und waren über die Fülle und die Gestaltung sehr positiv überrascht. Ein weiteres Plus - sogar eine kleine Kaffee-Ecke lädt zum Verweilen. Das Personal ist freundlich und kompetent - ein Besuch macht...
