What a beautiful castle! My dad had lived in the smaller building not too far from the schloss back in the 70s/80s so I mostly went to see that, but of course one cannot skip seeing a palace. The schloss and neighboring town of Memmelsdorf are not major tourist attractions so the visit was a little more peaceful than some other schloss visits. The grounds are free to see, and the interior is only able to be seen by a guided tour. These are only offered in German, but we were provided with cards with English explanations. Our guide also tried to explain a bit in English and we had some very kind tour guests who interpreted the important/funny/interesting bits. Ultimately, if you find yourself in Bamberg, memmelsdorf and the Seehof are worth a trip over. You can take a bus from Bamberg or get a cab for the 15 minute ride (ours was about €18) if you opt for a cab, one of the hotels will gladly call a cab for your...

This is one of the better kept castles that I've visited in Germany. The colors are beautiful and the grove of lemon and lime trees is magnificent. The tour of the inside was smartly done by an excellent guide who was unique in her ability to maintain the attention of all of the visitors with excellent information, a sense of humor, and a friendly disposition. The ceiling fresco was stunning. The ample grounds are free to visit and don't miss the fountain which is turned on each hour. I found the sculptures on the grounds to be unique and engaging. And although the restaurant had its share of bees, the food was very good and the service...

Cute castle that comprises a beautiful, expansive park with old linden trees, citrus plants, a pond, a cascade (the water plays start every hour for about 8 minutes), several statues, and a café. The interior of the castle has about twelve rooms open to visitors which one can visit only with a guided tour in German (there are leaflets with information about each room available for foreigners). Although not impressive and with many of the original objects/decorations lost or destroyed and then replaced with copies, the rooms are still worth seeing. Even though I visited on Saturday, it wasn't crowded and there was also ample...
