Nice place by day and night.😉Bismarck monuments have been erected since 1868 in honor of the first German Chancellor, Prince Otto von Bismarck, who was dismissed in 1890, in many places in Germany at the time, in the former colonies and on all continents. The Augsburg Bismarck Tower follows the standard Götterdämmerung, with which the architect Wilhelm Kreis won a competition of the German student body in 1899, one year after Bismarck's death. This means that this tower is practically identical in construction to 47 other Bismarck towers and / or Bismarck columns, apart from individual...
Read moreAugsburg is really interesting city in that one finds places like this one just a little outside the main city area. On the tower the city is visible and suddenly appears smaller. It makes for great walk from fairly distant car park to walk up. The houses themselves in this town give somewhat a feel of Bavaria being wooden (a few), with typical narrow streets.
Nice place with a great view of Augsburg. Plus there are walking paths around it. But rather bad for wheelchair users. On a clear day you can even see the Alps. To do this, however, you have to go up the tower🏛📸 The tower is open from April 1 to October 31, daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The attached panel includes the following Lines: The BISMARCKTURM at STEPPACH Built by the architect Heinrich Wilhelm Kreis 4th August 1901 laying of the foundation stone Inauguration on September 3, 1905 1958 tower closed 1981–1983 renovation by the recreation area association Augsburg (EVA) and the community of Neusäß March 26, 1983 reopening "This pillar is intended to be a memorial and landmark (Otto von Bismarck) to...
