Neustadt/Weinstrasse Railway Museum — Attraction in Neustadt an der Weinstraße

Has a nice collection of locomotives and cars from very old to fairly modern. Also runs a great train ride into the Pfalzwald behind a steam locomotive. On the first part of the trip you're on tracks with TGV's and ICE's. Then it goes on a branch line through the woods. It then stops in the village of Erfenstein for a while before returning. There are restaurants there where you can eat lunch and also get ice cream. I rode the first trip of the day and it was packed, and then chased the second train by car so I could take pictures of it. A visit before the Geocaching event showed the unexpected fascinating museum. You can really see some history and impressive trains. It's not that big, but there is also an awesome miniature train installation on the upper floor. Much more to see like original old tickets and you can find out how the train personnel worked...

Wir waren an einem Wochenende in diesem tollen Museum. Für jeden der schon von der Faszination dieser Kolosse begeistert ist absolut empfehlenswert, ansonsten kann man sich dort mit dem Fieber anstecken lassen. Die wunderschöne K.Bay.Sts.B. ist als Exponat dort ausgestellt und man kann durch die Waggons gehen und erlebt eine kleine Zeitreise. Alle Bahnen u Lokomotiven die offen waren, durften von innen besichtigt werden. Wir konnten auch die Modellbahnen sehen und mit der kleinen Modellbahn spielen. Die ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeiter erklären auch begeistert den Aufbau einer Dampflok, wer nachfragt kann viel erfahren. Für Familien ein schöner Ausflug. Danke für das ehrenamtliche Engagement, diese Kolosse Instand zu halten und die Geschichte erleben zu können , es übt bis heute eine Faszination aus.
