I'm a Japanese translator accustomed to travelling around the world, and while I often prefer to let rudeness slide due to lack of time, I hope my experience can improve the staff selection criteria. Unfortunately, my husband and I were victims of racist comments because Italians, bad words shouted in front of the entire pool and the spa manager. The staff member who discriminated us - paradoxically - has Asian facial features, and from the moment we arrived, he followed us like a shadow with a threatening, almost harassing attitude. When, having failed to read or fully see a prohibition sign (which, in any case, is not visible even in the pool areas), I asked my husband to take a pic of me, this Asian man attacked us without a shred of calm or savoir faire, leaving us no right to reply and taking his arrogance to the point of telling us he didn't care if we weren't having a pleasant time in the spa because of his behavior ("This is YOUR problem", he replied to us with a sarcastic smile). I tried to keep the conversation peaceful, but it's impossible not to get annoyed when the person you're talking to treats you like a repeat criminal. His low-level prison guard manner prompted him to stand in front of us, staring at us while twirling the lanyard of a large bunch of keys. Exhausted by his behavior but not interested in ruining my day, I pointed my fingers at him like a gun, claiming with a bitter smile that he was acting like a Martin Scorsese character. At this point, the man literally lost it, and armed—at least in his own opinion—with this very valid reason to kick us out, he called a manager (an Italian-speaking gentleman with white hair). Happy to finally be able to speak to a coordinator (which we would have done anyway as soon as finished our afternoon at the pool), we learned from him that the Asian man was having relationship problems with his wife, and that the staff was feeling very stressed due to the summer shortage. Always trying to show empathy for human workers, I reiterated that I simply wanted to relax in a place created for this purpose, so I would end up the dispute because "saru mo ki kara ochiru" (a Japanese proverb meaning "even a monkey can fall from a tree," everyone make mistakes). It was then that the Asian man, loudly and in front of everyone at the outdoor pool, started making a racist comment: "The tipical Italian people!" he almost screamed. And then, full of anger and still not happy with the bad response he gave, he tried to ridicule us saying that the entire pool was blaiming us (which wasn't true, since I simply repeated like a mantra that I wanted him to be kinder, a right thing shared by all decent people). Final consideration: beyond the money spent, experiences like this create unnecessary division between the states of our beautiful Europe, leading tourists less accustomed to traveling the world to believe that the Kostanz Thermal Baths embraces a discriminatory policy, or even that the entire Germany is still racist like 70 years ago. I address the spa management: you have a stunning facility, with a truly breathtaking location (which is also why I didn't pay attention to the "no photos" signs, I apologize for that), a clean place frequented by families: why ruin everything by allowing public-facing roles to be filled by people who are clearly not trained for the position? Not everyone would have been able to release their justified anger and internal disappointment over an injustice they'd suffered, continuing to feel at home in the center that was hosting him. Not everyone in our place, as well, would have appreciated the efforts of all the other workers around us, from the very professional manager we spoke with, to a sweet young girl who supervised the pool, with special praise to the friendly and competent aqua gym teacher (a class that I followed in its entirety, finding it very challenging). That said, I sincerely hope you take this advice to heart, and that your wonderful wellness center continues to reach ever higher...
Read moreThis place is a winter treat... A place to melt away a grey winter day's gloomy heart! They have multiple ways to thrill or calm and sooth your mood. You can swim, or just sit or lie down in different kinds of jacuzzis, inside or outside. It's warm water everywhere. The inside pool is connected to the outside pool and you can swim your way out, through a two layered hanging screen that prevents the cold outside air from coming in. From the outside pool you have that amazing view of the lake and the birds and boats, and people walking in winter wear, and you watch them with your body immersed in lovely warm and steaming water. My favourite part was where you ride the water current that goes round and round in circles, around a half enclosed fountain area. The current just pushes you so can swim, float, run like on the moon... whatever... Just round and round. It was scary at first, watching how the people are being carried by that strong current, but once you get the hang of it, it's great fun! The current stops after a while and starts again. There are security staff everywhere, watching out for any sign of trouble. That's very reassuring, because I'm not a good swimmer, and there are parts in the pool where the water can be agitated because of all the fountains and bubbling etc. If you are tired, you can just stretch and relax on one of the many deck chairs. The best part is the price... 10€ for an hour, 12.5€ for three hours, and 14€ for a whole day. If you are taking a bus, the no. 5 goes right to the front of the building entrance. The receptionist and staff were very professional. We took the 3 hours package. We can book tickets on the spot, we brought our own towel (you can hire for a fee). You'll also need to bring your own body wash, shampoo etc. There are lockers and changing rooms, and the lockers and changing room cubicles are common for both males and females. They have separate shower areas and wc for males and females, and those with special needs. The hair dryers are in a common space. You cannot use the WC in your outdoor clothing. That means after you are out of the pool, showered and changed, you cannot go back to use the washroom. And finally, because this is a public place, there are families, and people of all age groups... babies to senior citizens. It's a lively place. I'll go again. Since it's not proper to take pics inside, I'm uploading pics that I had taken earlier from outside the area, while on a walk...
Read moreI went there with my family two little children. Overall everything is good water is clean and not burning the eyes. You don’t have many choices in Food and the food is not so fare in pricing my suggestion is that being healthy and energetic foods like bananas, fruits and little bread specially if you have kids even for yourself.
BRING WATER! that’s true that you spend all your time in water but you can’t drink it personally I didn’t see any drinking water and of course you can buy it in high price! So bring water with you
BRING TOWELS this is the best practice have a towel with you inside and have some in storages.
The cleanness is generally good I give 85 from 100 even I can give more. There is almost no one to take care about people in water immediately (no one is near potential dangerous spots) so please keep an eye on yourself and family.
Generally the water depth is 135 Cm so if you have children below the age of 10 you have to always carry them with you and this is not a good thing.
The place is so warm and nice I really liked it. you can go outside in open space camping and use the view and also you can use the view from inside if you don’t like sun-burn or wind on your body. In outside there is some pools and also you can reach to beach and surf in the sea. Casually there is young couples making love and enjoying themselves, while this creates really beautiful love scenes but it sometimes also contains erotic act so if you have kids be aware of them.
Personnel is almost nice and friendly but not that much good that I excepted.
There is a great and really safe place for children with a good and safe engineering even for 4 years old babies it’s really safe.
Bath and WCs are great and if you have disabilities the BodenSee really is a good place for you. They really took care about the people with disabilities.
Generally I liked it and I would like to so again there because the relax and water quality. I recommend...
