Very nice park, lots of animals, nice playground, everything taken well care of. 1€ fee which you donate in a box. Only cash!!

It's a bit stretched out so a strawler is recommended for younger kids . There are toilets (cash payment!) at the entrance close to the main road. Closer to the forest there's another entrance and restaurant which is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (when we were there).

We didn't see many animals because they were hiding (lynx, vox, racoon, boar). The bird cages could be bigger.

We walked from Wenigerode Castle (20 minutes) nice walk through the woods, following paved way.

The red train aka schlossbahn passes by but doesnt stop! To get back into town we took bus 202 from the main road (every 30 mins on the clock). The bus stop is 5-10 min walk...

What an unexpected treat! We had hiked to the Castle from our hotel, and while starting back we noticed a very unassuming signpost near some restrooms. One marker had Wild Park Wernigerode. It says 30 min , but you’d have to stop several times and rest for it to take that long. The path is well maintained and has an easy slope. A few stairs, but easy and not many. If you take the path, make sure you ware good cushioned shoe as much of the path although flat, has hard edged rocks underfoot. When you arrive, it’s stunningly beautiful. Clean, manicured grounds The fee is 2€ and it’s on an honor system. The park is easily accessible from the city as well with no hike. Strongly...

Animal Cruelty

The wild park in Christianental was a shock. We only walked for about 10 minutes before we had to turn around and leave again. This was torture for the poor animals we had seen. None of them had any of their natural instincts more, you could tell their souls had been broken. Snowy owls from North American in small cages in direct sunlight. No chance to fly, no cubbyholes to hide in. Magpies, which are all over Germany, in cages?!

We were heartbroken at these conditions. Sickening. Do not...
