Paralia Agios Ioannis — Attraction in Lefkada Municipality

This beach is pretty but don’t be fooled it’s not for the faint of heart or for unskilled swimmers. It has some powerful currents underneath and strong waves that will send you rolling at the surf in no time. The only way to conquer it is to come as early as possible ( between 7-10 am). It is early but you will have the opportunity to get into the water and actually swim or snorkel. If you do, you can see variety of fishes through the pretty blue water. After that time the tide slowly picks up and the strong wind is raising the waves making the beach unenjoyable. Ah, and how could I forget the seaweed that is going to end up in your bathing suit and all other places you didn’t even know exist? If you are lucky you will spot a sea turtle nests but please be careful not to accidentally step on those. And if you are a wind surfer than this is the right spot to be. All...

Avoid this beach if you are a kitesurfer. The public beach "owner" and school manager showed very aggressive behaviour towards my family when I wasn't following their made-up rules. There is no sign or any explanation, there were 2 other kiters on the water and I was aggressively told I had to stay 100m from the nearest kiter and 200m from the shore when I got back on the beach. My kid was frightened. We left immediately and are never coming back. Greece has endless kitespots and this one has nothing to offer. No facilities, no sand, no shade and a dangerous place (rocky beach and directly onshore) to be learning this...

Ag. Ioannis beach is a beautiful beach with incredible blues and great spots to eat at along the beachfront.

Usually the beach is calm in the morning hours but once 1-2pm rolls around, it gets windy. Hence why kite surfers love this beach.

Waves aren’t so bad that you can’t swim but it’s does get annoying that a perfectly calm beach turns into a wavy beach, almost daily.

There’s are beach chairs at some of the beach bars but for the most part, it’s an open beach with families and their umbrellas in hand.

The sunset at this beach is picturesque. Can’t say how beautiful it truly is.
