This museum showcases one of the most significant collections of the bronze age, of which the Mycenean civilization was among the greatest powers. The items displayed offer an overall outlook upon the aspects that characterized Mycenean culture. The military might we read of in the Iliad can be seen in the bronze weaponry and the multiple depictions of fighting scenes on frescoes and pottery. Masterfully worked items of gold and other precious materials that still emerge from the excavations even after more than three millenia of plundering depict its legendary wealth. The love of beauty and life and its joys can be seen on the vivid colors and the images of beauteous women enjoying day to day activities. The piety and reverence of the divine can be seen by the multitude of religious figurines. This is a collection of the legacy of a bronze age superpower. Their owners were the great grandfathers of the people that pioneered science, philosophy and democracy. Don't miss a chance to enjoy it. The facility is wonderful and very well organized. The visit should not require more than...

Archaeological Museum of Mycenae: Regular ticket: 12.00 € Reduced ticket: 6.00 €. ( Oktober-2022 ).The exhibition takes place in a total of four halls arranged on two different levels and follows a circular course with the help of inclined corridors. On the upper level, the spacious vestibule, with visual material and wonderful views of the areas once occupied by the cemeteries of the Mycenaean nobles, is the starting and ending point of the visit. The first exhibition hall, on the same level, presents the findings from the public and private activities of the Mycenaeans. A ramp leads visitors to the second level dedicated to the kingdom of the dead. Here are exhibited findings from the royal burial circle B, the rich cemeteries of the chamber tombs as well as some historical copies of the grave goods of the royal circle A. A section on Mycenae of historical times follows and the exhibition concludes with the presentation of the achievements of the Mycenaean...

Personal perspective: it hasn't been enlighting. I adored the movable votive statues, because it was the first time that I saw such a thing and I really appreciated the linear B alphabet finds... But I find unbelievable that the Agamemnon mask is in Athens and not here. For the rest I found other Greek museums more organized to let you understand what you are seeing, like heraklion or Olympia... Or maybe I was just tired... Ahah. In any case you enter with the same ticket of the Palace so it worth the visit.
