Terra Creta — Attraction in Municipality of Platanias

Terra Creta is a modern olive oil factory surrounded by olive trees. We visited it on mid-May, which is not during the olive oil processing (happening in October apparently), but so the factory was empty and easy to visit. The tour takes less than an hour, and is composed of a tour of the factory, followed by an olive oil tasting. Be aware their are only 3 tours per day: 9am, 11:30am and 2pm. The girl guide was very nice and took time to explain us all the process and answer our various questions. Just be aware this is a very modern factory. Don't expect a traditional or home-made olive oil. The tasting was very interesting, we had the opportunity to try various olive oils and discover how to recognize a good one. Excellent experience. We got all our questions answered and more. We have developed an interest in olive oil quality and wanted to understand better what determines it. The staff at Terra Creta were friendly and made us feel welcome at once. First by the lady that explained us in excellent English what is going to happen and then by Kostas that gave us an extended tour despite being not the two of us. He spent more that the one hour and answered all the questions that we had. Very interesting to hear everything about the oil industry. At the end he taught us how to taste extra virgin oil and left us to enjoy the variety that was put forward. A must for everybody that wants to learn more about high quality...

Our visit was one of the best moments in Chania. We visited the factory on January 11,2020. They were closed but when we met Ms. Lia and told her we came all the way from Chania she kindly wellcomed and gave us a great tour to the factory. Not only that but also she explained to us how to know the quality of the oil.

The tour was a great new experience. We got many new information about olive oil and its process. If you decide to visit this factory you will have the chance to buy a really high quality olive oil.
