As we researched our trip, I read many reviews for the beaches so I’m paying back the favor :)
We had a few needs for a beach road trip: easy and safe drive from Chania, no need to get on a ferry or hike, not super crowded, parking, and some sort of food nearby. Ilingas ticked all the boxes and then some!
The drive was stunning and very safe on great roads, the views and the goats made it a great memory. The beach is super easy to find and there is a small parking lot by the hotel. Upon arrival, we had food and coffee at the hotel’s restaurant. From there, we walked down to the beach and rented 2 chairs/umbrella for 6 euro. Shortly after, we got GREAT cocktails for 8 euros each made in the small cave bar. The bar also had sandwiches and other food with vegetarian options. The water is incredibly clear and calm and it was not very crowded at all though we went on a Thursday.
This road-trip and beach day was the highlight of our Greece trip, I hope you feel empowered to...
Read moreA very peaceful beach that is a little bit off the beaten path. The beach does not have sand so it may be a reason as to why there's not a lot of tourists. It's made of pebbles and stone which can be difficult to walk on. Getting to the beach in terms of walking is not hard and there is a path. Definitely easy compared to Balos or Limania. The water is clear and a blue/turquoise color. There are loungers and a bar for basic snacks and drinks. Also, because it is partially secluded there seems to be some nudists on the opposite side of the loungers. There are also some caves which can provide natural shade and can be cool to explore/take pictures. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but maybe not for a special drive all the way...
Read moreA pretty good beach which is super easy to access - you literally need to walk a couple of mins from the free parking which is just near the highway. It is certainly not a popular one and there is just one hotel nearby and the rest of the people probably come by car. It’s likely not worth a very long drive but it’s a good beach to visit if you are nearby. It was a bit dirty with seaweed when we visited and I don’t know whether it was a coincidence or more of a usual thing. You can take two sunbeds and an umbrella for under 10 euro or use your...
