Mega Portokali beach is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches on Sithonia.
It is located about 7km north from Sarti, 700m after the Orange beach. It is not marked, but the turn you will recognize by the canteen which is located near the highway and the extension by the road where the cars are parked. There is space for parking in the woods and on the way from the highway to the beach. The mentioned road leads through the woods and has a length of about 200m. The last part (about 30m) is very steep. In the hinterland of the beach is a pine forest, which is a favorite place for many campers.
The beach itself is small and narrow, in the afternoon is in full shade because of the rocks in the background.
The beach has fine sand on the shore and in the water, and a few hundred meters of shallow water up to waist.
What inspires on this beach is the turquoise and very clear water, shimmering in the sun and if you look at the beach from the forest you will have the impression that this is one big, beautiful pool. The beach has no facilities and it is necessary that you take your own equipment, food and water. Admittedly, 200m from it there is a canteen that sells fast food (souvlaki, burgers, hot dogs).
In our opinion, this beach should be seen. It's near the main road so you can stop by to it when you are passing through, and throw a glimpse from the forest that is on the left side. It is surrounded by white rocks, and in the bottom of the sea is lighter sand, so the water is bright blue and soft as well as on the entire coast Kavourotripes. There is crowd on the beach...
Read morePortokali Beach: A Beautiful Location Marred by Terrible Service Portokali Beach is undeniably stunning, with a picturesque landscape that promises a perfect day. However, this beautiful setting is completely ruined by the appalling management of the sun lounger area. The staff are unprofessional and incredibly rude. Their lack of basic customer service skills is a major disappointment, leaving a sour taste that overshadows the beach's natural beauty. It's a shocking representation of Greek hospitality. Furthermore, visitors should be extremely cautious about their personal safety and property. We had a disturbing experience with suspicious individuals loitering around our car, and we narrowly avoided potential damage by leaving promptly. This lack of security in the parking area is a serious concern. For these reasons, I cannot recommend the organized beach area. The rude staff and security risks make for an unpleasant and potentially unsafe experience. You might have a better time at the unmanaged parts of the beach, but for us, the negative encounters in both 2024 and 2025 have made it clear we won't...
Read moreGreat snorkeling water! The beach can be a little bit crowded due to its size, but the turquoise water worth 100%. Pay attention to the sea urchins that are stucked to the underwater stones. The water is very clear and not so deep, in the afternoon the sun goes down a little bit early because of the hill, but it is a very nice place for taking photos. There are some free sunbeds & umbrellas if you order something from the small bar which is up on the stairs - good big sandwiches and hotdogs at ~1.99 Euros. The staff is very friendly, there is also a public toilet - if needed you can ask the key from the staff. It is better to leave the car near the street and not going too "deep" on the hill. September 2021 UPDATE: Still a very nice beach with crystal water, no sunbeds and a nice beachbar upstairs with free nuts for beer and...
