Monolithos,Santorini You could not see offen Monolithos in tourist advertisments and books but this place will take your heart at furst sight and this will be very"deep love".Monolithos beach reminds me for a fair tale:wide beach area, huge parking on the beach road, planty space for beach and water sports. Here you can breath. But the best of all is is the sand:fine, very fine black sand, even better then Perivolos ,which make you feel very comfortable at least.Monolithos is perfect for a family.I think is the best place to take your children to play there because the water is shallow and it is safe(there is an area before the small port where the water is only 10 cm. high. The place is not crowdy but there are enough markets and place to eat and drink. It is obligatory to visit greek restaurant "Captain Loise".The negatives for some people may be the closer distance of the thermal factory and the airport(some people don't like the sound...
Read moreWe went to Kamari beach and Eros beach before finally deciding on Monolithos beach. All the reviews said this was THE family beach in Santorini. And they were absolutely right. There are restaurants behind the beach and even a shower head to rinse and changing cabin. The only thing lacking was someone coming over to serve drinks. I had someone bring a menu of drinks and cocktails one afternoon; when I was thirsty again and ready for round two but could not find anyone. Our daughter loved the beach so much that we went back again...

We were only staying for a couple of hours so didn’t need or want to pay for chairs or umbrella. The man renting them out gave us a hard time when the umbrella’s shade eventually came over our spot in the sand as the sun went down (pictured). We found that annoying as it isn’t really our problem, it’s a public beach, and there was nobody using the nearest 10+ chair sets. I was not going to move our towel and things to stay out of “his” shade. Overall, would...
