The menu has changed since 2020. They raised the prices.
We have walked 40 minutes from the center to go there. Good point: beef carpacio was tasty. The view of the East coast is nice
Bad points: i qualified this place like a tourist trap. The wine is good but not exceptional as a European wine. The wines are overpriced as well, around 30 euros for standard wine. The wine tasting costs 40 euros and the lady served us 4 glass of 5 cl. It is cheapskate for that price anywhere in Greece or Europe. The sides were ok but not exceptional.
The service was actually bad, the lady is friendly, but the way she talks and the way she behave looks like she was in a rush to serve us and to make us spend lot of money and then leave; even when there were almost nobody.
The cherry on the top : if you want to buy a bottle of wine of 30 euros and drink it there, you have to pay a 15 euro random corkage tax.
At the end we spend 64 euros for 5cl x4 of wine, a bottle of water and a beef carpaccio : so it is a tourist trap.
I would have put 1.5 stars, but the experience was bad, so 1 star is the right evaluation for a unexceptional winery.
If you have money to spend and come from a shit place or overpriced place for wine tasting, you may like the experience, but if you know what wine tasting means and the price it worth, maybe go to...
Read moreWe visited Vassaltis in late September and were impressed by all aspects of their operation. Facility and service but mostly the wine itself. Locally produced, and aged in various ways depending on the type. We did a "grand" tasting which consisted of four tastes and four bites. Our tasting was of two whites, one red and a dessert: Assyrtiko, Plethora, Mavrotragano and a VinSanto. All were good with flavors exceeding our expectations. In our group, we were split on a single favorite. Each stood firmly with their own characteristics. Two of us liked the Assyrtiko, one the red and one the VinSanto. The bites were tasty and paired well but were just small servings as they should be. Vassaltis also serves dinner which sounded good as well. Perhaps not traditional Greek but definitely Chef inspired cuisine. They also carry delicious locally produced honey as well as other gifts to take away. We actually found a bottle on the VinSanto to bring home.
The staff was well versed in their methods and production as well as the flavor profiles. All were quite friendly and helpful.
We would also definitely return considering dinner here as well..

Read moreMUST VISIT!! Where do we even start! The view walking in is incredible and very modern for the landscape which is surrounds. Hailing from a wine dominated region, this winery exceeded all our expectations. The views, setting and interior layout were beautiful and unlike anything we have experienced back home. To have spectator views of the ocean while drinking wine and tasting magnificent food is extremely rare. Both our hostesses had an abundance of knowledge and a down to earth nature, which made you feel right at home. We are both not big white wine drinkers however, after the recommendations from our hosts, we are in love with this regions whites, which is what Santorini is known for. You seriously need to come in with an open mind regardless with what you think about wine in general. We arrived at 5pm and stayed until close (8pm) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves the entire time, to the point where we forgot about time itself! We had visited a few wineries before this, but this winery, this is the one you HAVE to...
