Excellent local museum in the island of Lesvos, in the vicinity of the beautiful village of Sigri. The location is far from the city of Mytiline, reachable via a country road with many turns, going up and down a mountain. The landscape on route reminds of a moonscape, being all rock and with almost no vegetation. The museum was build as an addition to the petrified forest park around it and its advisable, before you go around, to watch the short time presentation in the museum, because it gives an explanation and meaning to what you 're about to see in the park. Wear a hat, sunscreen and sturdy shoes. Entrance fee: five euros. There is a nice cafe in the premises, also selling local herbs, spices, teas, homemade mermalades and 'glyka tou koutaliou'. Before you leave the area, take time to visit the village and take a swim in the crystal...

But the museum it's worth a visit and the landscapes around are amazing. We found a party of scientifics working on site and discovering some trunks by the road. It was a good experience chatting with one of the women unearthing beautiful huge pieces of...
