One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. There are two elements important to your beach experience in this case: the nature and the man. The nature has given this beauty on the earth and dictates the weather which is very important when you visit this beach. So, before you go, check the weather forecast. You should choose a calm sunny day, without wind. Otherwise, it will be a real problem with big vawes, so swimming will be impossible. Also, the magnificent color of the water will be distorted for pictures from close distance. The water is incredibly clear. A little colder than on other beaches. There is stong underwater current, so be careful if you wish to go little further from the shore. The beach has a sandy part which transforms in pebbles near the water. There is enough place for more than 2-3000 visitors. The beach is rather big. The second important factor is the men: what has been done (or not) in order to avoid your visit becomeing a really bad memory. Car is essential. For those bike friendly, I warmly recommend using a bike if the distance alows it. The timing is not less important. If you decide to go, do it as earlyer as you can. It is the best to arrive at least at 8 to 9 o'clock in the morning. Afterwards, a big traffic jam occurs, leaving you to the mercy of organized groups of tourists for parking near the beach. The big issue here is the non organized free parking attended from hundreds of cars. The hill is very steep, so if you arrive later, you should walk uphill in the strong sun for a kilometer or more. It is a very bad and dangerous experience. There is no single police person authorized to make the situation bearable. The next issue are the unusable public toilets, so consider it in your plans. The next issue is that there is no store. Just a beach caffee, which is a tiny wooden barrack with no capacity for serving souch a crowd. It is better to have prepaired the drinks and food you will need in advance. There are sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, but you can set up your own for free. There is a shower too. All these challenges are nothing for the real beach lovers, because I am one of them, so I tried it this morning. Here is a piece of beach lovers heaven (picture of Myrthos beach Kefalonia).

The jewel of Kefalonia and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. A beautiful pebbly beach with turquoise blue water gives the impression of a sea paradise where you can enjoy the view or swim. Both on the coast and in the sea, the beach is made of fine white pebbles. Beach shoes are handy to have. The sea itself is very clean in different shades of blue and turquoise. At the western end of the beach there is a cave that can be interesting for taking pictures. I must point out that in the case of Mirtos beaches, the local authorities have tried to preserve the beauty of the beach and the natural environment by limiting the number of sunbeds and cafes. There is only one cafe on the beach with a basic offer of drinks, ice cream and sandwiches. Prices are not high. There are equipped toilets, toilets for the disabled and changing cabins. There are also showers on the beach. There are trash cans in all parts of the lodge. There are about 150 sunbeds on the entire beach, which do not spoil the appearance and comfort of visitors who do not take sunbeds because the beach is very spacious. Sunbeds are rented at the price of €10 for a set. Already after 11 o'clock it is difficult to find a free sunbed. There is a lifeguard on the entire beach. There are no water sports or scooter rentals on the beach, so peace without engine noise is guaranteed. There is only paragliding, which will provide its lovers with an unforgettable experience. Parking is free and there is always a parking attendant. It is necessary to arrive before 11 o'clock, optimally 10 o'clock, in order to park next to the beach and not on the bends above the beach.

Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia: Myrtos is, undoubtedly, one of the main poles of attraction in Kefalonia. It is located 29 km north of Argostoli, in a beautiful area around huge verdant hills. Myrtos has gained a worldwide reputation and has been constantly included in travel magazines among the most beautiful and impressive beaches in the world. It has been awarded many times for its cleanness and natural beauty. The natural beauty of Myrtos is the trademark of Kefalonia and one of the most photographed places in Greece. The beach has a semi-circular shape surrounded by impressive white rocky cliffs with lush vegetation on top of them creating a spectacular setting. The lush green area, the abrupt terrain, the white pebbles and the crystal waters compose a stunning scenery. The beach is well-organized to its most extent, with umbrellas and sundecks while a small part remains completely unspoiled, ideal for total isolation. The western coast of Myrtos offers spectacular sunset views. visitors have direct access to a wide range of facilities and a nice snack bar offering cold drinks. Myrtos is easily accessed by all means of transport. While descending the beach, you will enjoy some amazing views from above. The closest village to the beach is Divarata and offers a few accommodation options - mainly apartments and villas/houses, not hotels. Nonetheless, consider staying in the picturesque Assos, one of the most charming villages in the Ionian located a 20-minute drive away from Myrtos. Enjoy!

A bit of a tourist trap but undeniably beautiful, however I would say it’s more photogenic than it is a good beach. That’s not to say it’s no good, it definitely has it’s moments and I’m sure it’s the type of place that will massively appeal to anyone wanting a bit of Instagram photography or people who are sun-lounger only beach-goers. Things to note: Parking is pretty bad if you don’t get there very early - by this I mean you may be forced to park far up the steep road that leads down to the beach: easy walking down, but a very unwelcome trek back up. There is a small beach bar and a set of toilets (at least in the summer months). The bar sells drinks from refrigerators and a few different snacks like sandwiches etc. There are quite a few sun-loungers with umbrellas, but not even close to enough to accommodate all of the visitors to the beach, so if you want to ensure you have one, best get there early. The water is a lovely colour, just as you see in all of the pictures, but I found it not that good for swimming as it was a bit rough and just a touch unpleasant; there are many better places if you’re really in it to swim. The beach is pebbled and not too harsh on the feet. Overall I think it’s worth a visit, but try to get there early for minimum hassle!

Beautiful beach, Not that good for little kids because there's absolutely HUGE waves, people of all ages get knocked over by them, it gets deep very fast, but if you're a bit older it is a great beach and very fun once you get the hang of the waves, water is sooo clear and turquoise, very stoney and they hurt a bit when walking on them, recommended water shoes. This picture is from the viewpoint, which is on the route of the beach with the road getting wider to allow stops. Parking is free of charge but sometimes gets a little busy in the main parking (right beside the beach) so recommend getting there a bit earlier than normal. If the car park is full there are places to park up the road. There's changing rooms, toilets and showers and overall a great beach! Probably the best beach on the island!! Not great for snorkeling because the water gets murky where the waves hit, however I did spot one fish in a wave when I went! A Better beach for snorkeling is antisamos😁there is opportunities for paragliding aswell 🙌 Sunbeds are rented at the price of €10 for a set and there's a lifeguard monitoring the beach at all times Unmissable stop!!

One of the most famous beaches in Kefalonia, it is usually very crowded. We went there in the late afternoon to enjoy the last hours of sun and the sunset. The colors of the beach and water are amazing. Make sure to take a picture from the viewpoint on the road to Assos! (you can find where it is on Google Maps). Parking: very large parking, but keep in mind that it’s crowded. If you have a scooter it’s way easier. 🙂 Type of beach: very small pebbles/sand, both organized and not organized. The beach is very big so you have a lot of space to place your umbrella. 😀 Shadow: no shadow (at least in the afternoon), and even if we got there a 6pm, it was still very very hot. Bring your umbrella! 😕 P.S. The shadow provided by the rocks on the left of the beach are very tempting, but there is a no access sign, and for a good reason - in the late afternoon the goats come down the cliff to seek for food and as they walk, they make rocks fall in the area below. So be careful!!! Water/Snorkeling: the water has very pretty colors and is clean, near the rocks on the left you can do some snorkeling. 🙂
