Platana Beach — Attraction in Thassos Municipality

We went to a lot of beaches located on the west side of the island : Skala Rachoniu, Papu Beach, Glikadi, Louloudis, Arriba. Definitely this is the most beautiful beach on Thassos. Pine trees shadow, crystal clear water, shallow with fine sand.. Not noisy or too crowded. Perfect. Sunbeds are free , but you have to make bar consumption. You have also towel space with no money "restrictions". The bar employees are kind and friendly and you can order a lot of beverages and food, medium prices. There is a public toilet which has all you need (soap foam, paper towel, bin)or place for feet washing and some hammocks. There's also a small parking, but you can find a lot of free space (street on the right just before entering the parking). My top is : Platana, Arriba (very similar, better prices at the bar, but you can find some sea urchins spread around, so I couldn't be relaxed in the sea)...

Platana Beach is a quiet and underrated beach close to Skala Sotiros. The water is super clear and the beach has a mix of small pebbles and sand. It is perfect if you want to relax without noise or crowds. There are usually only a few people there even in summer so you can find a spot easily. The sea is clean and calm, great for swimming and chilling. It is not really a place for snorkeling because there are not many fish or rocks but if you just want peace and a nice swim it is perfect. There is a little taverna nearby with good local food and cold drinks which makes it easy to spend the whole afternoon there. You can park close to the beach and walk down without any stress. Overall Platana is a simple but really peaceful beach to escape the busy...

This is a must visit place for anyone looking for a calm, cozy and family friendly beach. First of all, the place is kinda isolated and less crowded than any other beach on Tasos. Secondly, you can do a lots of long walks by the see at both sides from this location. Thirdly, shallow, calm and surprisingly warm water reaches as far as 100 m from the beach so it makes it ideal for any parents out there with kids. Last, but not least stuff is really polite and friendly and there is a lots of room between sun-beds. The only downside in my opinion is the food and drinks menu, not so many options for food. I hope they will take this in consideration and expand the available options for the upcoming vacation...
