Who is adding this place to their bucket list? Save for the location! I’ve been sharing a lot of content lately from my recent trip to a much less popular tourist destination in Guatemala, Peten. (Even though in my opinion it should definitely NOT be missed!) I loved it so much there I extended my time for a whole extra week because its that incredibly beautiful! This little local beach called Playa Chechenal is just a 20 minute lancha or boat ride away from Isla de Flores. It’s a nice spot to swim and relax if you’re looking for a beach day on the lake which you will want and need because its so hot there! Things to do in Peten, Guatemala-save for later! This department of Guatemala is often skipped by travelers which is a shame because it is freakin amazing!!! Most people who travel to Guatemala visit Antigua, Acatenango, Lake Atitlan and now El Paredon and for good reason-these places are all incredible! But if you can stay longer, then I highly recommend adding Peten to your list because it is just as magical and beautiful! I think the reason many don’t come here is because it’s far and a bit more difficult to get to. You can take a 9 hr overnight bus from the city (they have day time shuttles, but I don’t recommend that) or a quick 45 min flight, but domestic flights here are expensive. (I paid $170 which in Asia a flight like this would be about $50 or less.) It’s also right on the border of Belize so if you’re coming or going from there it’s an easy stop. Things to do: Visit the Ancient Mayan ruins at Tikal National Park, Yaxha, Uaxactun or do the 5 day Mirador trek. -stay at @junglelodgetikal Spend time on the cute and colorful Isla de Flores. -stay at @hotelisladeflores -eat at @delirio_gt or @maracuyafloresgt Take day trips to: -Tres Naciones-this hidden gem was my absolute favorite! This place was so stunning! -Crater Azul or the Blue Crater -Playa Chezenal -@arcasguate animal rescue center -Maya Mundo museum in San Miguel Take a boat ride and explore different parts of the lake like El Remate! Lugar igual para ir pasar un rato tranquilo, aunque el agua no estaba tan celeste como creía. El atardecer fue mejor de lo que esperaba. Me gusta que te cobren para entrar, porque si no estaría comido de basura. Desde flores has de coger una lancha, que es nada.. 5 minutos, y te cobran 5QZ si tienes cara de turista, si no son 3QZ. Para llegar puedes coger un tuctuc, pero te recomiendo que lo hagas a pie, es un momento y es un paseo agradable. La entrada te cuesta 10QZ. Cierran a las 17.30h.

Playa ubicada en las orillas del lago de Flores, su llega puede ser por lancha o por carro, el ingreso tiene un costo de Q10 (quetzales) cuenta con tiendas, y un muelle.

Beautiful place to spend the day with kids. Water is clean, and you spot fishes. A lot of shade areas.
