The **National Trust of Guernsey’s Folk and Costume Museum**, located in the heart of St. Peter Port, is a charming and informative destination that offers visitors a deep dive into the island’s social history, traditional costumes, and everyday life through the centuries. Housed in an atmospheric 18th-century building, the museum is a testament to Guernsey's rich cultural heritage and the island’s distinct blend of French and British influences. The museum’s main focus is its exceptional collection of historic costumes, which span several centuries and offer an insightful look into the evolution of fashion in Guernsey. The carefully preserved garments—many of which are hand-stitched—illustrate the island’s traditional dress, particularly from the 18th and 19th centuries, and highlight how local fabrics and styles were influenced by the island’s geography and history. The museum also houses a range of household items, textiles, and tools that help to recreate a snapshot of daily life on the island in past centuries. In addition to its exhibits on costume and domestic life, the museum offers a glimpse into Guernsey’s agricultural and maritime heritage, with displays showcasing farming equipment, seafaring tools, and local crafts. The museum’s intimate setting and personal atmosphere allow visitors to connect with the island’s past in a meaningful way, making it a perfect stop for history enthusiasts and anyone keen to learn more about Guernsey's cultural identity. Overall, the **Folk and Costume Museum** is a delightful and educational experience, offering a hands-on look at the island’s history and traditions.

Lovely museum with interesting items from Guernsey's history. Great insight into how people lived, showing items from the past 250 years. You can see an original, traditional and unique Guernsey Jumper among other garments and costumes. There is parking in Saumarez Park near the Adventure playground so if using satnav aim for there. Also good to visit is the Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden

The Guernsey Vintage and Classic Tractor Club held a show of old tractors at the folk museum in saumarez park on a lovely sunny Sunday morning with a great turn out of people and children. A good English breakfast was had by all members before setting off on a road run along the west coast of the island all the way to...
