Disappointing Experience – Poor Organization and Unprofessional Security Staff I attended OIEE’s Transition Festival, hoping for a fun and well-organized event, but my experience was quite the opposite.
Security issues: When I arrived, everything seemed fine—we received our wristbands, and security at the entrance checked them before letting us in. After dropping off my coat, my wristband was checked again. However, as I made my way to the main hall for the concert, a security guard suddenly grabbed my arm and rudely demanded to see my wristband again, saying, "Hey, wristband? Can’t you see we’re checking?" in an unnecessarily aggressive tone.
This was the third time my wristband had been checked. While I understand the importance of security, the way it was handled felt excessive and poorly managed. A more organized and respectful approach would have been much more appropriate. Later in the night, I noticed the same security guard speaking harshly to guests, including women, and making unnecessary comments to people who simply didn’t see him at his checkpoint. If multiple checks are necessary, clearer signage or designated wristband check areas would help prevent confusion and enhance the experience for everyone.
Sound quality issues: Unfortunately, the concert itself was also disappointing. The sound mixing was off, with the vocals drowning out everything else, making it hard to enjoy the music. Several attendees, myself included, approached the sound technician to mention the issue, but the response was dismissive rather than helpful. It’s frustrating when a simple fix could have greatly improved the overall experience. In 2024, guests expect a higher standard of audio quality at live events.
Overall, the festival had a promising concept, but the poor sound quality and unprofessional behavior from security staff significantly diminished my enjoyment. With better organization, more respectful staff training, and improved audio, this could be a fantastic event. I hope for improvements...
Read moreI like Dürer because it has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. However, I dislike their involvement in the recup system, which requires customers to buy a plastic cup for each drink for an additional 500 HUF. This fee is significant when considered as a percentage of the total cost. If you don’t want to pay for a cup each time, you must keep the cup with you.
In the end, you can stand the line and return the cup, but instead of receiving cash back, you get tokens. These tokens can only be used in a few places around Budapest. There are numerous pubs however, each with different tokens, which means you'll end up with many (often useless) different tokens and/or a collection of plastic cups at home. For tourists, these tokens are particularly pointless.
Moreover, the recup-system is in the name of environmental protection, yet it often feels like classic greenwashing since the money isn’t refunded, and there’s no clear benefit to the environment (the plastic cup is still a plastic cup). I would feel a bit differently if the extra fees collected for the cups were donated at least to environmental protection...
