Urban Transport Museum — Attraction in Szentendrei járás

An old wish of the experts of Budapest Transport Limited came true when, at the time of the modernisation of the Szentendre suburban railway line in 1991 - 92, a permanent exhibition could be opened in one of the reconstructed covered depots displaying the transport history of the capital and its neighbourhood.

The depot was built in 1914, during the electrification of the suburban railway line, but by the beginning of the 1990"s it became unsuitable for the storage and maintenance of trains with big passenger carrying capacity. The museum consisting of five exhibition rooms and two display halls opened on July 14, 1992.

The theme of the first room is the history of public transport in Budapest, presenting the legal predecessors of the company as well as the lines and vehicles operated by them.

In the second room the visitors can get information about the public transport of other cities (such as Debrecen, Miskolc, Szeged and Szombathely).

In the third room the technological relics of public transport infrastructure, track and catenary construction, maintenance and power supply are demonstrated.

The fourth room exhibits the tools of the original forge that was linked with the old covered depot in Szentendre.

The fifth room focuses on the history of bus and tram transport in Budapest. The visitors can find documents and photos, various tickets and vehicle spare parts here. In the hall and the yard of the museum tram and suburban railway cars, buses and trolley buses are standing.

Nagyjából 2 óra volt megnézni kisgyerekkel és vasárnap visszafelé egy nosztalgia járattal lehet zárni a kirándulást, ami a Batthyány térről indul. Ám vasárnap nincs nyitva a GCSV szimulátor.

Csak készpénzben lehet jegyet vásárolni! És az ajándék bolt is csak KP alapon működik. (Most le volt fosztva, ideért a hiánygazdaság?)

Nem volt túl meleg, de azért jó vinni palackot, Batthyány téren van közkút a busz forduló közepén és a múzeumban van csap a tiszta mosdóban.

Kelenföldről 1.5 órára van. A HÉV út alkalmas volt egy mesélős - uzsonnázós időtöltésre. Szinte üres volt.

Múzeum a HÉV-től jobbra van, át a busz végállomáson, a sorompó után közvetlenül a fák alatt található. Kívülről látszanak a kültéri járművek. A GPS megbolondult többünknél. Kár arra hagyatkozni.

Van egy történelmi rész, ami kicsiknek izgalmas fotókat tartalmaz szem magasságban. A nagyoknak meg szövegeket fent. (Vagy éppen a pantográfos, fa kerekes álomhajó csengővel és két dudával.) A kapcsoló szekrények, kovács műhely a gyerek figyelmét nem kötötte le. 3 troliból 2-re fel lehet szállni. A szimulátor vasárnap le volt zárva.

Villamosok részen néhány járműre fel lehet szállni, csengetni, tekergetni a féket. Az 1625-ös vezetőfülkéjébe be lehet ülni, van régi, piros jegylukasztó, kértünk próbajegyet hozzá - (a HÉV-en is ilyen van még, de a korszerűsített járműveket már nyomtatósok működnek). Néhány régi, favázas, felújított nosztalgiajáratra is fel lehet szállni, ahol nyitott a vezetőfülke. Egyiknél a kapcsolószekrény is nyitva volt. A homokszórót eltömték, az ablakok, rácsok működnek és a Csengő is működik! Aminek a hangja bejárja a csarnokot. A Combino tehén mellé azért van odarakva a szék, hogy fel lehessen ülni rá. A Bengálit csak kívülről lehet megnézni. Ha belülről is érdekel 2-es villamos vonalán szokott szombatonként közlekedni a nyári szünidőben N2 járatként. Neten találsz infót. V25001-es váza és fékszerkezete tiszta, szépen látszik alulról. A Muki elődjeinek a seprűszerkezete is megérte néhány csodálkozó pillanatot. A bent a gőzös nyitott, fel lehet rá menni mind a kocsiba, mind a mozdonyba.

Kinti részen egyedül a gőzös nyitott, a többi járművet csak kívülről lehet megnézni.

Nagyjából 10 ember lézengett. Több gyerek ricsajra számítottam. Így is élmény volt. És készült pár jó kép emlékbe.

In the second area, you will find many original vehicles. The vehicles are in great condition, and you can even board some of them. In the outdoor area, there are more vehicles, some of which are not in the best condition due to weather conditions.

The museum is within walking distance of the Szentendre train station (about a 5-minute walk).
