I visited Auðunn on 06/06/2024 in his stone shop. It's not a place for a quick stopover if you happen to be in the area. You should plan this place as a fixed destination on your Iceland trip. Here you can see countless gemstones and minerals that have been found exclusively in Iceland. They were recovered from the Icelandic mountains with effort and passion. Auðunn is a very fascinating man and I could have listened to him for hours. I have never met a person who is so passionate about a thing. The sparkle in his eyes when he talks about his stones was fascinating. He impressed me and although I'm back in Germany now, I think of him and his words very often. I hope to see Auðunn again. I will definitely plan this place on every further trip to Iceland.
My greatest wish would be to go to the mountains with you, Auðunn! Thank you, I keep your stone in honor.

Read moreNote: Audunn's shop recently moved. The Google pin wasn't correct when we went. It's very close to the restaurant Vid Voginn and the souvenier shop that overlooks the harbor. We loved this stop. My daughter is very into rocks and minerals. Audunn has been hiking over the neighbouring mountains for years collecting. He then got a cutting machine and polisher and has displayed his finds in the musuem. He speaks good English and loved telling us about the stones. There is also a selection of local stones you can...
Read moreCute little one room display of various rocks, mostly cut and polished which the owner must have collected over time, mostly displayed on glass shelves around the room. Entry in July 2023 was $5.00 USD per person. No description of anything, so they must be local. The whole museum is probably smaller than a modest rockshop in the US, but there are probably very few visitors except for cruise days, so support the...
