Great beach with hot showers & pools, very beautiful view & close to Akranes city center. In Good weather this is the perfect place to spend a few hours with family or friends....

Long beach in Akranes, the pool is like á bigger hot tub size, enough space & the water is warm but the bottom pool is colder....

ad Iceland’s 3 tier outdoor geothermal Guðlaug baths on Langisandur Beach in Akranes is a must visit if you love being by the water, natural springs and being up for a challenge! Created by the same team who brought us the famous Blue Lagoon, this has been constructed with marine-grade concrete and a spiral staircase to connect the tiers. There are 3 oval-shaped levels here! The first is a viewing platform, the second is a warm bath and the last is a cooler pool to entice bathers to further their experience by walking straight into the (icy cold) ocean waters. I ended up doing it… three times!!! The first time was a shock, I recovered quicker by the second and the last time was a charm. Strangely addictive, invigorating and I felt warm for HOURS afterwards. (Actually, I’m still warm now whilst I’m typing this caption!) It’s 500kr (approximately £3) to visit and an additional £5 to rent a towel… or bring your own! Kids can go free. And while you’re there, why not stop off at the bouncy… castle? Dome? Big rock?
