An amazing hidden gem in Iceland. A place used by the locals as a place to swim and relax so you know it’s good!

A lovely stretch of natural beach on the left side and then on the right a building with a very well run and organised area with a geothermal pool and steam room.

In the building there are separate men and women’s changing rooms with showers and toilets which are very clean and well maintained, a hallway with lockers (free to use but bring your own padlock or rent one for 660) and a reception where you can rent towels and other items. There are lifeguards during the day and the staff are very helpful.

The geothermal pool is a bit small and can get crowded but water is nice and hot, the steam room is amazing and quite large considering the size of the area, with showers outside and a middle room for cooling down.

About 50m opposite the building there is an outdoor hot tub and small lagoon heated with water from hot tub, lovely views from the lagoon over the sea and onto the city ahead.

Overall one of the best places I have visited in Iceland, lovely views and locals as well as staff, tucked away and you can spend the whole day here if you want to relax. The water around can suit anyone; freezing cold in the natural sea, a mix of both in the lagoon, warm in the hot tub, hot in the geothermal pool and cooked in the steam room! And best of all it’s all completely free.
