Honestly, I had never stayed at a guesthouse before, so I was a bit skeptical. However, after staying here, I'd do it again. Kef Guesthouse was overall very clean & nice! My room was perfect for getting ready for my flight out the following morning. The shared bathroom/shower was nice & very clean. I inadvertently completely deleted the email with the code for my room. Replied to my confirmation email & management replied within minutes with the code. Very impressive. It is a five minute drive to Keflavik Airport from Kef Guesthouse, so it was very convenient after my weeklong solo road trip around Iceland. The history of Kef Guesthouse is an interesting one. I believe it was originally an Army base, then later a prison. In fact, I shared pictures of 'jail cell no. 4'. Then it was remodeled into what it is now. I'm glad they left the jail cell, it piqued my curiosity to learn more about it. The last two pictures are of the sunset the night of my stay at Kef Guesthouse in April, and the sunrise the following morning. It was spectacular! If you're looking for a nice, inexpensive place to stay either your first or last night in Iceland, I definitely recommend Kef Guesthouse.

Brilliant place to stay, the rooms are basic but very clean. The bed was really comfy and big. There was sink in the room and a small table and a wardrobe but no toilet or shower. The toilet and shower were at both ends of the main corridor but it’s a matter of seconds to walk and they were very clean and tidy. All toiletries are supplied, toilet roll, towels, shower gel, shampoo and soap. There is a canteen and dining room, there’s loads of free food in there, which is really nice to see. I assume its what people leave behind as its all self catering, so if you’re on a tight budget, you’ll be able to get a free breakfast! There’s tea, coffee, juice and water available for free too. There’s books, a TV and internet access in the canteen area too. The location is spot on, its about a 3 minute drive from the airport and its seconds away from the main road to get you in any direction around Iceland. There’s a bus stop outside too. Overall, very good place to stay for a very good price and in an ideal location if you’re driving.

Edited! Overall the establishment is clean. You're gonna definitely need earplugs if your even remotely a light sleeper. People can be quite loud and the walls seemed to be quite thin. As well as there's quite a bit of Road noise. I was only giving 3 stars because the rooms are very very cold. I'm comfortable to walk around with a lightweight jacket and cap. I slept fully clothed with a stocking cap on my head. Other guest were complaining about their rooms being too chilly. Staff wasn't helpful in that aspect. The outside temperature is 38 Fahrenheit which is somewhere around 0 Celsius. Updating my comment! The knob to turn up heat/radiator. Looking forward to warming the room and sleeping with a little less clothing on. One of the beds was pushed against the radiator.

Not much from the exterior, but WONDERFUL And HELPFUL hosts. Clean. shared kitchen and washrooms are tended to regularly. Great location, close to airport, and short walk into town on well maintained footpaths. great view, bird life is incredible. only little thing is, it sits in a parking lot, where car rental is- so even with outside sitting, the view from there doesn't face overlooking the town and water... (if a patio were on the back side, and fenced a little for privacy from cars, it would - with hot tub 😊 be phenomenal) Yes we would stay here again without question. Price is reasonable to lower for area. Yes we recommend. Cozy. Full self-serve breakfast offerings. You can also borrow bikes, and free pick-up and drop-off to/from airport.

Great satisfaction. I was a little worried about self check in but it works without any problems, the pin from the room came on the booking and the main door was normally unlocked. at the reception and in the kitchen there were small goodies for guests. The kitchen was well equipped, there was also coffee, tea and even syrups for coffee. The bathroom was nice and clean and the rooms too. The rooms are smaller but enough for few nights. The only thing I was missing was some shower gel. We used the airport shuttle, which was waiting for us at the hotel and we were able to get to the place comfortably. Thank you very much and we will repeat our stay.

Rooms was spacious, clean and warm. We had a bathroom in the room rather than shared but it had all the same facilities. There's a selection of cereal, spreads and meats for breakfast but you can use the kitchen any time. Other people leave food which might be handy. Shuttle service to airport is super - we were up at 4 and managed to get fed, a cup of coffee and the shuttle. If you don't have a car it would be a bit of a walk to keflavik, so in one respect the location may not be do great. Other than that for a handy place for an early flight its really great. There is also a rental company based there too.
