Snow City Bengaluru: A Chilled Escape with Room for Improvement Snow City Bengaluru offers a unique opportunity to experience sub-zero temperatures and snowy fun right in the heart of the city. This indoor amusement park features frozen slides, rides, and other family activities, creating a winter wonderland escape. However, while the overall experience offers a cool (literally) escape, there are a few areas for improvement.
The first impression is undeniably exciting. Stepping into Snow City is like stepping into a different world. The temperature plummets, and the frosty air is invigorating. The park boasts frozen slides, a snow play area, and even a snow disco, providing entertainment options for all ages. During my visit, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the thrill of the slides and the light-hearted fun of the snow play area.
However, a few aspects detracted slightly from the experience. The most significant factor was the time limit. At ₹750 per person for only 45 minutes, it felt a bit restrictive. While 45 minutes might seem sufficient initially, the time quickly seems to melt away (pun intended) when you factor in getting dressed in the provided gear and exploring all the park offers.
Speaking of the provided gear, the freshness of the rental clothing could be improved. While the functionality was adequate, the overall condition wasn't ideal. Additionally, the boots provided offered minimal insulation, leaving my feet feeling quite cold despite the socks. Considering the focus on sub-zero temperatures, more substantial footwear would significantly enhance the experience.
Despite these shortcomings, Snow City Bengaluru offers a unique and enjoyable experience, especially for those who haven't experienced snow before. The park is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, it's important to be aware of the time limit and the condition of the rental clothing before you go.
Here's a breakdown of the key takeaways:
Unique Experience: Offers a chance to experience sub-zero temperatures and snow fun in Bangalore. Fun Activities: Features frozen slides, a snow play area, and a snow disco. Time Limit: 45 minutes might feel restrictive for the price point. Rental Gear: The freshness of clothing and the insulation of boots could be improved. Overall, Snow City Bengaluru is a good option for a fun family outing or a unique experience with friends. However, being aware of the time limit and the condition of the rental gear will help manage expectations.
If you're looking for a more extended snow experience, you might want to consider exploring other options. However, if you're looking for a quick and fun escape from the Bangalore heat, Snow City is definitely worth...
Read moreAn absolute ripoff and a total waste for children, especially smaller children.
The so-called warm gear they provide you is thin and more to keep you protected from cold weather than the freezing cold you will experience inside. The jackets are thin, you'll have to beg the staff to give you a jacket that isn't too large or too small, the gloves are actually just thin mittens and what you essentially get for your feet are gumboots meant for rain which means your toes will be freezing in about 20-30 minutes.
The place inside is not maintained. The steps leading up to the slide are covered in ice and if I had a rupee for every person that fell down the steps while I was there I'd have made up the ridiculous amount I spent on entry.
The staff inside are most unhelpful. You're expected to battle a horde of people for a tobaggon at the end of the slope and haul it up yourself, on the previously mentioned ice-lined steps and then battle another horde of people all pushing and shoving to go down the slope while the staff stand around with not a care in the world.
And if you have small children in your company, good luck, because they are expected to slide down the slope themselves unaccompanied by an adult! Most children especially the younger ones seem to panic, scream and cry, leaving their caretakers struggling to manage them while the staff are completely indifferent and insist that no provision can be made for an adult to accompany a child.
In all of this, you'll be enthralled by blaring music, the last 15 minutes even includes lights off and 'disco-time'. Again, I did mention iy was completely unfriendly for kids, didn't I?
Oh and the icing on the non-existent cake? The staff at the counter will inform you that no matter the day, there is some government holiday in some part of the country, albeit an unheard of one, for which you will be charged weekend rates in the middle of the week. The only cafe inside the place operates on the same loot-people principle. They charge ridiculously high prices for everything including 50 rupees for a cup of soup that's about 2" tall...
