Khuni Darwaza — Attraction in Chanderi

The first and the main gate of the Chanderi Fort is called the ‘Khooni Darwaza’. It is so named because the criminals were thrown from the battlements above and their bodies crashed below. This gate of the fort was once known for its’ grandeur but as it was attacked and destroyed by Babur, it lost its’ glory followed by many massacres leading to the defeat of Chanderi. The town of Chanderi is located on the lush Vindhya hills wrapped in a blanket of greenery of adjoining forests and lakes. In order to get to the Kirti Durg one has to go through the narrow gates of ‘Khooni Darwaza’. It is said that when Rajputs battled their enemies at this spot, there was a lot of bloodshed and the blood stains did not fade for a long time, hence the name. ऐतिहासिक नगर चंदेरी में स्थित चंदेरी का किला स्थापत्य कला की जिवंत मिसाल है। पहाड़ी की एक चोटी पर बना और लगभग पांच किलोमीटर के क्षेत्र में फैला ये किला चंदेरी का सबसे प्रसिद्ध स्मारक है। इस किले पर कई शासकों ने शासन किया और साथ ही इसका कई बार पुनर्निर्माण भी कराया गया। इस किले की शिल्पकला पर अलग-अलग काल के शासकों की छाप देखने को मिलती है। इस किले के तीन प्रवेश द्वार हैं, जिनका इतिहास अपने में कई घटनाओं को समाए हुए है। किले के मुख्य द्वार ‘खूनी दरवाजा’ के नाम से जाना जाता है। इस किले के अंदर कई महलों का भी निर्माण कराया गया। अतीत में चंदेरी के महत्व को इससे समझा जा सकता है कि इस किले पर कई बार हमले हुए। वहीं इस किले के बाहर ही एक जौहर स्मारक भी है, जो राजपूत रानियों को समर्पित है।

आमिर की पहेली में यह खूनी दरवाजा और कोई नहीं चंदेरी किले में स्थित एक दरवाजे का नाम है, जहां गुनाहगारों को फांसी की सजा दी जाती थी, जिसके कारण उसका नाम खूनी दरवाजा पड़ा। इस खूनी दरवाजे पर पब्लिसिटी के दौरान अचानक आमिर खान और करीना कपूर चंदेरी पहुंचे थे।
