New Lake — Attraction in Chandigarh

Located at sector 42, this is not a natural lake, and most of the time it’s dry. It’s beauty and it’s water level is a highest during Chhath Pooja. Although, it is a man made lake, yet it is well maintained and offers you some nice views. Sunset here is marvellous and the plantation is exquisite. Parking here is not an issue and you will find large open space for different activities. It is famous among couples as well as fitness freaks. Greenery is visible everywhere and a sense of calmness is very evident. There is also a canteen in the premises, but the options is very limited. Constructed in Sector 42, the southern part of the City Beautiful, mainly with a view to free the Sukhna Lake from Chhat Puja celebrations every year, the New Lake has become a very popular spot for the southern city residents as well as Mohali residents. This lake is usually dry on other days; I don't know if it fills up during the rainy season. Initially, the lake was clean, and its surroundings were pristine, but now it has become dirty.
