Morning Walk Experience at Gandhi Udyan, Raipur Gandhi Udyan, located in the heart of Raipur, is a popular destination for morning walkers, fitness enthusiasts, and families. Having visited the park multiple times for my morning routine, I’d like to share an honest and balanced review based on personal experience.
What I Liked Lush Greenery and Fresh Air: One of the biggest attractions of Gandhi Udyan is its well-maintained greenery. The tall trees, manicured lawns, and variety of plants make it a refreshing space to start your day. The oxygen-rich environment feels revitalizing, especially after a good rain. Well-Paved Walking Tracks: The walking path is broad, neatly tiled, and well laid out. It forms a loop around the park, allowing for uninterrupted walks or light jogging. For someone serious about daily steps, this path works well for consistency and ease. Yoga and Open Gym Facilities: There is a small open-air gym area and ample space for yoga, which adds to the fitness-friendly vibe. I’ve often seen local yoga groups conducting sessions early in the morning, which creates a motivating atmosphere. Central and Accessible Location: Being centrally located, the park is easily accessible from various parts of Raipur. Whether you’re coming on foot, by two-wheeler, or by car (if you can find parking), it’s quite convenient.
⸻
Areas That Need Improvement Overcrowding on Weekends: While the park is pleasant on weekdays, it becomes quite crowded on weekends and holidays. Families with kids, local joggers, and casual visitors all converge, which can make it noisy and a bit chaotic. If you’re looking for solitude, early weekdays are better. Limited Parking Space: Parking around the park is a real challenge. With few dedicated spots and narrow adjoining roads, finding a safe place to park during peak hours can be frustrating. Maintenance Issues: Although the park is generally clean, certain areas—like the fountains or benches—sometimes show signs of neglect. Some dustbins are either missing or overflowing, and the open gym equipment isn’t always in the best condition. Mosquitoes in Certain Seasons: During monsoons or in the early winter mornings, mosquitoes can be a problem, especially around densely vegetated corners. Carrying a mosquito repellent cream or spray might be a wise idea.

However, like many public parks, it does face challenges with crowd control and maintenance. With a few improvements, it could easily become a model park...
