Such a holy place Ahmedabad Kali Bari Ahmedabad is! We go there very often at least twice a month. It is about 8 kilo metre from my place Venus Parkland. The temple is of kaali maa. Kalaratri (sometimes spelled Kaalratri) is the seventh of the nine forms of the Goddess Durga, known as the Navadurga. She is first referenced in the Durga Saptashati, Chapters 81-93 of the Markandeya Purana, the earliest known literature on the Goddess Durga. Kalaratri is widely regarded as one of the many destructive forms of the Mother Goddess,[1] which include Kali, Mahakali, Bhadrakali, Bhairavi, Mrityu, Rudrani, Chamunda, Chandi and Durga. Kaalratri is traditionally worshipped during the nine nights of Navratri celebrations.[4] The seventh day of Navratri pooja (Hindu prayer ritual) in particular is dedicated to her and she is considered the fiercest form of the Mother Goddess, her appearance itself invoking fear. This form of Goddess is believed to be the destroyer of all demon entities, ghosts, evil spirits and negative energies, who flee upon knowing of her arrival.[5]Kaalratri is traditionally worshipped during the nine nights of Navratri celebrations.[4] The seventh day of Navratri pooja (Hindu prayer ritual) in particular is dedicated to her and she is considered the fiercest form of the Mother Goddess, her appearance itself invoking fear. The Saudhikagama, an ancient Tantric text referenced in the Silpa Prakasha, describes Goddess Kalaratri as being the goddess that rules the night portion of every day and night. She is also associated with the crown chakra (also known as the sahasrara chakra), thereby giving the invoker, siddhis and niddhis (particularly, knowledge, power and wealth).
Kaalratri is also known as Shubankari (शुभंकरी) - meaning auspicious/doing good in Sanskrit, due to the belief that she always provides auspicious results to her devotees. Hence, it is believed that she makes her devotees fearless.
Other less well-known names of Goddess Kaalratri include Raudri and...
Read moreAfter settling in Ahmedabad last year, I came to know about this. As a Bengali I prefer Navratri for Durga Puja rather than Garba, so I visited the pandal had darshan, clicked pictures and shared them. I was happy. However today, due to some work I had to visit the office there and after speaking with the people in charge, I realized that the place is more about money making than devotion. The person managing it lacks the necessary skills and at this rate, it will shut down in few years. Eventually it will just remain as a temple where only the owners will perform rituals and the general public will hardly visit given the way the management treats people. Some may not agree with my opinion but this is my personal experience as well as that of my family. Please do not take offense. They think they are the only ones in the world preserving Bengali culture, festivals and rituals. But they should visit Kolkata and see the thousands of small and large associations and temples dedicated to Durga and Kali that have been thriving for centuries. I bet none of the public has had a bad experience there. Anyways the office man should know People...
Read moreThe location is good. The inner atmosphere is peaceful. I find the problem with their management. I paid membership fees and they said that they would call me when it was done. They never called me even after repetitive messaging on WhatsApp where they are very active. But they said that they missed to read my message. When the members election came, they reached out to me on WhatsApp for voting. Anyway when I said that I did not have membership even I paid for it 7 months ago, one of the member whom I never communicated before, said me that yes, I was registered for membership. Thanks to him. Appreciated for his confirmation for which I was taking follow up with the WhatsApp admin for 7 months. I can see them mostly busy with advertisement on the WhatsApp group. Everything good but I do not like their attitude and advertisement policy on group. They should have some separate group for advertisement. I will not recommend anyone to join for membership until they are thoroughly...
