Great place to hangout and have a great meal with friends and family. There are about 20 eateries around and you get pretty much every cuisine - Indian, Italian, Continental, Chinese, Mexican etc. We tried the food from three restaurants. We started off with the Mixed Grill Sizzler from Meraki. The sizzler was really good - the temperature, the flavors and the presentation. One sizzler would be enough to fill for 2 people. Next, we tried Maggi Baskets and Maggi Bhajiya from A-1 Maggi Bhajiya. The basket is served cold with roasted Maggi inside and Sev on top. They also put cheese on top but we opted out of it. But it was good even without cheese. Maggi Bhajiya were good as well. These three dishes were good enough for 4 of us. So, we finally went for the Jambu Shots of 4 and a Tropical Blast smoothie from 9834. The Jambu Shots were great - a bit innovative way of presenting Jambu juice. The Tropical Blast smoothie was good as well. There is a pan shop at the entrance. We tried the Fire Pan there and it was amazing! Living up to the name, it is served while it's on fire - so definitely an experience!!
There's plenty of seating as the restaurants surround the seating area in a U shape. Cleanliness was very good. There are two levels of seating - one at the same height as the restaurants and then there's elevated seating which is just as you enter the place (so you need to climb down the steps as you go further). Parking seems very limited and most of the cars are parked on the street. There is valet parking as well. We went on a weekday evening so there wasn't much crowd there. Overall, a great...
Read moreThe Urban Food Zone is an innovative concept that transforms urban spaces into sustainable and accessible food hubs. By strategically integrating agriculture into urban landscapes, it addresses the challenges of food security, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. This approach not only reduces the carbon footprint associated with food transportation but also fosters a sense of community engagement as residents participate in local food production.
One of the key strengths of the Urban Food Zone is its adaptability to various urban settings, from rooftops to vacant lots, allowing for flexible implementation based on the specific needs of each community. This approach not only promotes the cultivation of fresh, locally sourced produce but also creates opportunities for education and skill development in urban farming practices. Additionally, the emphasis on sustainable practices, such as vertical farming and aquaponics, highlights a commitment to resource efficiency and eco-friendly urban development.
While the Urban Food Zone presents a promising solution to urban food challenges, its success depends on overcoming potential barriers such as limited space, regulatory hurdles, and public awareness. Implementing effective policies, incentivizing community involvement, and leveraging technological advancements will be crucial for realizing the full potential of the Urban Food Zone. Overall, this concept represents a commendable effort to reshape urban landscapes, making them more resilient, sustainable, and...
Read moreIf you're planning to visit Urban Chauk, here's a small tip from my side—try to avoid weekends if you prefer peace and a relaxed vibe. Saturdays especially get crowded because there's usually a live music event. It’s lively and fun if you're into that, but if you're looking for a calm outing, choose a weekday instead. On other days, the atmosphere is really pleasant.
The place is beautifully lit, and you'll find everything from a cozy coffee shop to a juice bar and even a South Indian food counter. Whenever I go, I usually order the Masala Ghotala Dosa. The name might sound funny, but the taste is seriously good. It’s a dosa served with a rich, flavorful paneer gravy—definitely worth trying! It costs around ₹380 per plate. I haven’t tried more dishes yet because I was already full!
Urban Chauk is located on Sindhu Bhawan Road, about 2 km inside from Rajpath Club. The location is prime and easy to find—just knowing it's on Sindhu Bhawan tells you it’s in a good spot.
Outside, there’s also a beautiful ornament shop. The boy working there is genuinely kind and helpful. On the other side, there’s a small bookstall where you can spend time reading, even enjoy your own company in peace.
So go, explore, and enjoy! Eat your favorite food, take your time, and don’t let stress follow you. Urban Chauk is one of those places where you can truly relax...
