+6 Krishna's history revolves around his birth in Mathura, imprisonment of his parents by his maternal uncle Kamsa, and his subsequent rearing in Vrindavan. He's considered the eighth avatar of Vishnu in Hindu mythology and is celebrated for his roles in the Mahabharata, particularly his guidance of Arjuna in the Kurukshetra War, as depicted in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna's life is also marked by his childhood pranks, divine interventions, and his eventual death, often portrayed as a peaceful passing. Elaboration: Birth and Early Life: Krishna was born in Mathura prison to Devaki and Vasudeva, but raised by Yashoda and Nanda in Vrindavan. His birth was prophesied to be the end of Kamsa's reign, leading to his imprisonment and attempts to kill his children. Vasudeva secretly transferred Krishna to Vrindavan, where he grew up as a cowherd, indulging in playful activities like stealing butter. Kurukshetra War and Bhagavad Gita: Krishna's most famous role is as Arjuna's charioteer and guide in the Kurukshetra War, which is the backdrop for the Bhagavad Gita. During the war, Krishna provides Arjuna with profound lessons on dharma (righteousness), duty, and the nature of the self. Divine Interventions and Legends: Numerous legends depict Krishna's divine nature, including his ability to lift Mount Govardhan, control the elements, and his many miraculous deeds. These stories highlight his compassion, strength, and ability to defy the impossible. Death and Legacy: Krishna's death is often described as a peaceful passing, with stories of him being shot by a hunter who mistook him for a deer. His legacy as a divine figure, a teacher, and a warrior continues to inspire devotees...

A Must-Visit for History and Mythology Enthusiasts!

We visited the Shri Krishna Museum in Ranbhoomi Kurukshetra on 25th October 2024, and were truly impressed by the museum’s architecture, displays, and informative exhibits. It’s conveniently located near the Science Centre, with ample parking space available outside. At just ₹30 for the entry ticket, the experience is an excellent value.

Warm Welcome and Helpful Staff The museum staff made our visit even more enjoyable. Upon arrival, we were provided with a booklet containing basic instructions and background information about the city. Their friendly behaviour added to the positive experience.

Three Floors of Fascinating Exhibits (No Lift Available) The museum is thoughtfully divided into three floors, each with a unique focus:

First Floor: This floor features collections from the Harappa era and artifacts from Dwarka Nagari, offering a glimpse into ancient Indian civilization. We particularly enjoyed the wooden carvings depicting the life of Shri Krishna, which were intricate and beautifully detailed.

Second Floor: Although this floor primarily houses paintings from around the world depicting different aspects of Shri Krishna, we found the diverse artistic interpretations interesting, even if not as engaging as the other sections.

Third Floor: This was undoubtedly the highlight of our visit! It showcases life-sized statues that bring the entire Mahabharata to life, making you feel like you're stepping right into the epic. The exhibit extends down to the ground floor with a Chakravyuh room, adding an interactive and immersive experience. The museum’s use of every corner to represent the Mahabharata was truly remarkable.

Additional Facilities and Overall Experience :

The museum took us around two hours to explore, and it was definitely worth it. We appreciated the availability of a canteen for refreshments and clean washrooms, which made our visit more comfortable.

Note: While there isn’t a lift available, the ramps are wide and manageable for visitors.

Overall, the Shri Krishna Museum offers a wonderful blend of history, mythology, and art. It’s a great place to visit for anyone interested in ancient Indian culture or the epic tales of the Mahabharata. Highly recommended for families, students, and mythology...

Nestled within its walls, the Krishna Museum beckons visitors on an extraordinary journey into the enigmatic realm of Lord Krishna. Here, the multifaceted persona of Krishna, as woven into the tapestry of the Mahabharata and the Bhagvata Purana, unfolds in all its splendor. This captivating museum comprises six galleries, divided evenly between two blocks. Each gallery holds a treasure trove of artifacts that breathe life into the legend of Lord Krishna. Stone sculptures, bronze castings, delicate leaf etchings, exquisite terracotta creations, and particularly, the miniature paintings, bear testament to the craftsmanship of the era. The level of intricacy and devotion poured into each miniature painting truly struck me. These masterpieces felt like a glimpse into the artist's soul, capturing the essence of devotion and storytelling. It was as if they held a mirror to the spiritual journey of Lord Krishna. The aura is palpable, and one can almost sense the presence of the deity within the walls. Stepping into the museum feels like a pilgrimage into the heart of devotion and artistry. Every piece, meticulously curated, narrates a story of its own, echoing the timeless tales of Krishna's divine escapades. As an extension of this sanctuary of culture, the Multimedia Mahabharata and Gita Gallery, a collaboration between Haryana Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, offers a digital odyssey through the epic. Nice place The Srikrishna Museum is located next to Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre in Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. It has a big range of exhibits including ancient sculptures, carvings and paintings, dioramas, giant statues, surreal sounds and a walk-through maze. Krishna, the embodiment of intellectual and spiritual glory has been a subject of adoration ever since the character got deified as a God. His versatile personality made him a deity. Unfolding the mystery of Krishna is virtually an enchanting experience as every time you untwine the fabric of Krishna you discover a new dimension in it. The divinity and human aspect of Krishna as revealed by his character in the literature is unparalleled in the history of human civilisation. He has been a source of perennial inspiration to the art and literature. He is the most popular character in Indian myths and legends. Kurukshetra has been described in the first verse of Shrimadbhagvadgita, in the form of Dharmakshetra Kurukshetra. Kurukshetra is a place of great historical and religious significance which is seen with reverence in all the countries due to its association with Vedas and Vedic culture.

Srikrishna Museum is situated beside Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre in same complex. Ground Floor has bronze, wooden and terracotta sculptures of Lord Krishna. First Floor has wall paintings of different materials and styles like Palm Leaf Paintings, Cloth Paintings in Rajasthani, Odisha Styles. Second Floor has adaptation of various scenes of Mahabharat and Lord Krishna’ Birth to God Forms. Photography and Videography is banned in the museum. Cleanliness and Maintenance of museum is very good. ONLINE Ticket Booking System of Srikrishna Museum Trust is complete FAILURE. I know, the STRICTNESS of GUARDS is good for discipline and maintenance of museum. But still their INTERFERENCE is more than expected. ADVICE - If you are a lover of archeology, you haven’t seen Mahabharat & Sri Krishna on Television and haven’t read Geeta or Mahabharat, then you should visit this museum OTHERWISE no need to visit.
