Chakki Modh Waterfall — Attraction in Himachal Pradesh

Chakki Mod (also called Chakki Morh or Chakki Mor or Chakki Modh) is a village situated in Solan District, Himachal Pradesh. It is 30 km from Chandigarh on Chandigarh-Shimla highway. It is tourist location among youngsters for hangout in natural landscapes and river bed.From timber trail it will take another 15-20 minute to reach chakki mod. There is a small river in the chakki mod with cold water. This place is very beautiful and have its own charm. This place is really ideal for people who are searching for a place for weekend outing and masti, specially near Chandigarh, who don't have much time. it is a place where you can go by 11am or 12noon and can come back by 5pm with so much of fun and enjoyment. One can go to kali mata mandir situated in kalka and for going there take left turn before the Himalayan express way. Their is a sign board showing pinjore. after crossing pinjore there is a very old temple of kali mata. After crossing timber trail there is a small road going down on the right side. There are some shops and dhaba there.Road is narrow and not in a good condition but drive-able. That diversion will take you to the bridge below from where one can see the river flowing. After going forward there will come another bridge.From that bridge one can take a diversion on right which will take you to the river bed.The place is really beautiful with so many rocks placed in a manner like they are inviting you to sit on them. One can sit on those rocks while legs in chilled water while having your drinks and eatable. It is advised not to go in the middle of river as water level rise suddenly sometimes, otherwise there is not much water except monsoons. It is advise to remain at the shore of river. In monsoon season water level and flow increases which is risky. Must visit this place . Chakki Mood is a nature paradise located few kilometres away from Panchkula. I am an avid bird photographer from Delhi. This area can stun you for it's rich flora and fauna. This area is beautiful but on the downside it's under ecological threat. Waste management is one problem. The hoteliers dump their waste in river streams and it's very shocking to see plastics all over the water bodies. Rude behaviour of tourists often seen driving alcohol on the road side is another problem. Please respect these places and locals...
