Such a beautiful & Calm place to visit in Shimla ..... I found it accidentally but it made my day ........ You can visit here if you love to visit new, beautiful and calm places.... Place is Beautiful structured... also the Monks here are well friendly with the visitors.. they know Multiple languages like hindi, english and there own pali or may be tibetan.... How to reach here ? You can take a Bus from Old Bus Stand Shimla to Panthaghati... And your last stop will be the Shiv mandir panthaghati..... After reaching there you will find this monastery just on the right side of the road..... So must visit here if you are in Shimla......this will give you the inner peace and satisfaction if you love exploring new places

Dorje Drak Monastery was founded by the 1st Rigdzin Godemchen Ngodrub Gyeltsen. In 1632 the monastery relocated from Tsang to its present tranquil setting on the north bank of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, or Brahmaputra, when the young 3rd Rigdzin Ngagiwangpo and his ruardian Jangdak Tashi Topgyel were forced to flee the wrath of the kins of Tsang. Their successor, the erudite 4th Rigdzin Pema Trinle greatly enlarged the monastery before his untimely death at the hands of the Dzungar Mongolians, who sacked the monastery in 1717.

It is very beautiful from inside... People here are very sweet and kind... One lady sitting here tood us to eat the food (bhandara) downstairs... Here also we get food like we get in bhandaras... Also view from this place is very beautiful....

Its a monastery quite visible from the main road...easily walkable from there. Quite place, beautifully made. You can visit their library too. There are a couple of shops around..where you can shop and eat too.

A great attraction for tourist a very pilgrimage to visit very peaceful environment and scenery is also amazing even monks are very cooperative they let u see their monastery and tell you about it

Quite and beautiful place on hill. Temple is awesome. Must visit here for your Shimla trip. From ISBT you will get a bus for panthaghati. Get down on Tenzin Hospital.
