WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT VISITING BUTTERFLY PARK AT BENGALURU: Butterfly Park is one of the very popular attractions at Bengaluru and particularly at Bannerghatta National Park. We have visited Butterfly Park many times. All the times our experience has been different. The experience depends a lot on the climate, temperature and season as all these factors are highly influential on the growth and sustenance of the larvae and Butterflies. That is the reason for different experiences shared by the visitors. About: Butterfly Park is housed in the popular Bannerghatta National Park. A portion of the National Park is converted to Butterfly Park. Naturally, there is a lot of serene greenery around. Butterflies are cultivated in a separate premise that is not accessible to the visitors. When they get the wings, then they are brought here and released. It is a huge greenhouse premise with lots of beautiful plants and artificial water bodies inside. It is dome shaped and in the inner side of the dome are man-made nests for butterflies. Butterfly park is easily accessible through private and public transport. If you are traveling by your own vehicle then you can reach Bannerghatta Road and from here it is a straight drive till the National Park. It is also well connected by public transports like – cabs and BMTC buses. Ticket and Entrance: Ticket cost is 30 Rs for adults. Children get a free entry. There is a beautiful walk from the ticket counter to the entrance of the Butterfly Park. For those who would not like to walk, can take a ride in the electric car by paying a fare. A huge butterfly shaped gate ensures to bring a pleasant smile on the face of all visitors. Taking a pic at the entrance is a custom that everyone follows. Inside the Greenhouse of Butterfly Park: The actual butterfly park is in a big ‘Greenhouse’ like enclosure. As you enter, you feel as if you are in a different world. There are many beautiful plants inside that adore beautiful flowers. It has greenery and freshness everywhere. A walkway is made to guide you through the premises. As you pass by, you see many beautiful butterflies around. They fly around you and settle down for few seconds on a flower, that is when you get an opportunity to take a pic of the lovely insect. There are many informative boards inside explaining about different varieties of the butterfly. An artificial pond and waterfall won’t miss to please you. The pond has beautiful fishes which are a big attraction for the kids. As you complete your tour of the Greenhouse, the exit is through a Butterfly Entomology Museum. Various beautiful species of butterfly and insects are preserved here with many interesting details about them. There is also a small theater where informative documentaries related to butterflies and insects are played. Souvenir Shop: On the way between ticket counter and greenhouse park, there is a small souvenir shop where tourists can buy memorable souvenirs to preserve their memories forever. Area of improvement: We found that few staff members were openly allowed to bring their vehicles way beyond the ticket counter within the Butterfly Park premises. This is saddening and harmful to the environment. Authorities should take strict actions to keep the premises green and prevent pollution inside.

Located within the Bannerghatta Biological Park near Bengaluru, Karnataka, the Butterfly Park is a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts and families. Established in 2006, it serves as a sanctuary for various butterfly species and offers educational insights into their life cycles and habitats. Key Features Butterfly Conservatory: The park features a 10,000-square-foot butterfly conservatory, providing a controlled environment that supports the growth and development of numerous butterfly species. Visitors can observe butterflies in various stages of their life cycles, from caterpillars to chrysalises to fully formed butterflies. This outdoor space enhances the chances of witnessing butterflies in their natural behaviors, such as feeding and mating. Another visitor highlighted the park's accessibility, stating, "Butterfly park is located inside Bannerghatta National Park and can be easily located using Google Maps. There are frequent BMTC bus services to this place." Facilities and Amenities Accessibility: The park is easily accessible via public transportation, with frequent BMTC bus services connecting it to various parts of Bengaluru. Amenities: Basic facilities such as restrooms, drinking water stations, and seating areas are available for visitors' comfort. Dining: While there are food stalls and a few restaurants at the entrance of Bannerghatta National Park, dining options near the Butterfly Park are limited. It's advisable to carry snacks or plan to dine at the park's entrance. Visitor Tips Best Time to Visit: To maximize butterfly sightings, plan your visit during the warmer months when butterfly activity is higher. Photography: Photography is allowed; however, it's recommended to avoid using flash to prevent disturbing the butterflies. Peaceful Nature Escape with Room for Improvement Butterfly Park at Bannerghatta is a wonderful little escape into nature, especially for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to enjoy a serene and educational experience. Tucked inside the Bannerghatta Biological Park, the butterfly conservatory offers a peaceful retreat from the city buzz, with a large, dome-shaped enclosure filled with lush greenery, flowering plants, and—of course—butterflies. The best part is walking through the conservatory and spotting different species fluttering around. It’s quite magical, especially for children. There’s also an informative exhibition hall and a short video presentation that explain the lifecycle of butterflies and their importance to the ecosystem. The displays are engaging and provide a nice educational touch without feeling overwhelming. The facilities are generally well-maintained, and the staff is polite and helpful. The pathways are clean and accessible, and there's a small souvenir shop outside selling butterfly-themed merchandise. However, there are a few areas where the experience could be improved. The butterfly dome could use a little more upkeep—some sections looked a bit worn, and we noticed fewer butterflies than expected, possibly due to seasonal changes or maintenance issues. Also, signage inside the park could be clearer for first-time visitors, especially when navigating from the main zoo entrance to the Butterfly Park. Overall, it’s a lovely half-day outing that blends learning with leisure. I’d recommend visiting early in the day to avoid crowds and get the best chance to see active butterflies. Definitely worth a visit if you're in or around Bengaluru and want to enjoy a calm, nature-based experience!
