THIS BEAUTIFUL BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1900 TO 1907 AT A COST RS 7 LAKHS BY CHAMARAJA WODAIYER THE KING OF MYSORE FOR HIS TWO SISTETRS JAYALAKSHMI RAJAMMANI THE PLACE WAS NAMMED AFTER HER NAME JAYALAKSHMI VILAS MANSION AND TO ANOTHET SISTER CHELUVARAJAMMANI CALLED CHELUVAMBA MANSION WHERE PRESENTLY CFTRI EXIXSTS AND IN THIS PLACE MANASA GANGORIS STARTED ITS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE. IT IS A NORTH-SOUTH FACING PALACE. A PORTION OF THIS OFFICE HAS BEEN USED FOR HERITAGE FOLKLORE MUSEUM. THIS HAS ALL HERITAGE ARTICLES USED BY ROYAL FAMILY AND CULTURAL ACTIVATIES OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF THEN MYSORE STATE IS HOUSED. THE ARICLES LIKE POTTERIES MADE OUT DIFFERENT CAYS, IDOLS USED AT THAT TIME AND PRIOR TO THAT TIME CAN ALSO BE SEEND, THE CLOTHING OF VARIOUS KINDS,BY ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE IS EXHIBITED, DIFFERENT TYPES OF TOOLS AND WEAPONS ARE WELEXHIBITED, IT WAS ALSO SEEN THAT THE WISDOM OF THE KING GIVING PROMINENCE FOR CULTURAL AND MUSIC LOVERS AND LITERATURE IS WELL PRESERVED THEY ALL WERE RECOGNISED BY GIVING GIFTS IN APPRECIATION. ONE CAN SEE DIFFERENT DOLLS AND ANNIMALS EXHIBITED, SOME MODELS OF HOUSE AND RURAL AREAS OF HABITATS OF TULU CULTURE AROUND MANGALORE, KODAGU, NORTHERN KARNATAKA ARE SEEN. I WAS REALY HAPPY TO WOODEN CHARIOTS FOR CARRYING IDOLS OF GOD ARE KEPT FOR THE SAKE OF EXHIBITION. THE ARTICLES OF HOUSEHOLD ITEMS LIKE PLATES, POTS, BASKET PLATES, PORCELAIN CUPS AND VESSELS. DIFFERENT TYPES OF SWORD, KNIVES, RIFFLES AND REVOLVERS SEEN. POETS PHOTOS AND THERE CONTRIBUTIONS ALONG WITH THEIR WRITTEN DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE CAN BE SEEN THESE POETS ARE HONOURED WITH SUITABLE GIFTS. IT CAN SEEN THE PENS USED AT THAT TIME AND THE SPEX USED ALONG WITH COVERS ARE KEPT IN TACT. THIS BUILDING WAS INAUGRATED AND LIGHTED BY DR. SAREPALLI RADHAKRISHAN ON 3RD AUGUST 1962 AT 7:15 PM. I WOULD LIKE REMAINED THAT THIS WAS IN POOR CONDITION OVER FOUR DECADES, A LADY BEHIND MOST SUCCESSFUL MAN A GIANT OF. SOFTARE INDUSTRIES MR. NAYAYANA MURPHY'S WIFE DR. Read moreVery poor experience!! Did not visit the museum . As soon as we went the lady in charge very rudely asked us to not wander!! Also We were asked to deposit our phones at entrance!! There is no provision of locker also there are no sign boards at entrance that say no phones allowed . There is a sign at door saying no camera , we told the person in charge that we will switch off our phones and not use it but she wouldn’t agree ! We were not even allowed to walk around in the garden . The curator Mr Nagraj insisted that it is the rule and phones and bags have to deposited or left in car !!
