Gumbaz e Shahi is a stunning mausoleum that is located in the town of Srirangapatna, Karnataka, India. It was built in the 17th century by Tipu Sultan, one of the greatest rulers of the Kingdom of Mysore. The mausoleum was constructed to serve as the final resting place for Tipu Sultan, his father Hyder Ali, and his mother Fakr-Un-Nisa. The architecture of the building is a fine example of Indo-Islamic style, featuring intricate carvings and calligraphy on its walls. The central dome of the building is an impressive sight to behold, standing at a height of 20 meters and being adorned with colored tiles. The mausoleum also houses several ornamental graves and the burial chamber of the royal family. The complex surrounding the Gumbaz e Shahi mausoleum is also worth exploring, as it contains beautiful gardens and manicured lawns that make for a peaceful and serene environment. The Gumbaz e Shahi complex provides a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Mysore Kingdom and highlights its artistic and architectural achievements. One of the best place to visit in Srirangpatna. It has a lot of stories to tell. It's built by Tipu to serve as a mausoleum for his father and mother. It's designed in Persian style and the garden have flowering trees collected from Persia. During the British occupation the grounds of Gumbaz was briefly occupied by British forces. Those who love to know more about Tipu can explore a lot from Srirangpatna and the village Ganjam. Triveni sangama, Tipu's summer palace, Abbe Dubois church and Ghosai ghat are closer to this place. Tourists can also visit the rose gardens which make this locality beautiful. Karighatta Srinivasa temple is an another attraction in this locality, which is on a small hillock. It's aone of the ancient temple in this locality, Lord Venketeshwara is the deity worshipped here. The vigraha in black stone is serene and the view from hillock is mesmerizing. Road to Karighatta is easily motorable. Temple lovers will definitely love the beauty and serenity of this spot. It is also called chikka Thirupathi. Visitors can get Karnataka RTC services from Mysore and Srirangpatna to reach here. Shuttle rikshas are available at Ganjam and Patna.

- Nothing much to see here. There is a mausoleum and a garden. - I visited here with colleagues on one early morning. - I thought that was the best time to visit. - At the time of our visit the atmosphere was shrouded in fog and it slowly disappeared as the sun rose. It was a beautiful sight. - Tourists are allowed to this place from early morning, Tipu's tomb opens only after 8:00 am. - There are several tombs around Tipu's mausoleum. It was said that it belonged to his relatives. - The tomb is surrounded by a beautiful garden. - No entry fee. But the parking fee is Rs.40-50 are collected by private individuals. - Government and tourism department are not managing this properly. It seems to have been destroyed. - A small horse ride can be enjoyed outside the gate by paying Rs 50-100. - Those planning to visit Mysore and adding this place to the list should have personal vehicles. Because one can visit Summer Palace, Kaveri River etc. on the same route. Another thing is that you can avoid being cheated by cabs and auto drivers.

Gumbaz -e-Shahi or simply Gumbaz is a mausoleum of Tipu sultan, his parents and his close relatives. From Srirangapatna KSRTC bus stand there is a bus which goes to Gumbsz but i am not sure if it's frequency ( Frequency of bus seems very less). We can get autos for Rs 80- 100 from KSRTC bus stand to Gumbaz. If we walk from KSRTC bus stand, cross the road and stand at turning of road which goes to Gumbaz we can get share autos to Gumbaz which charges Rs 30-40. The frequency of these share autos also seems less so it's better to take a auto to Gumbaz from KSRTC bus stand. While coming back from Gumbaz we can also see Daria Daulat. Entry is free in this place. Footwears are not allowed inside the mausoleum. A lady who takes care of footwears of tourists charges Rs 5 per pair. The caretaker or security of mausoleum will accompany tourists inside the mausoleum, say it's history for couple of minutes and then demand money.
