Review of Melody Wax Museum, Mysuru

Located in the historical city of Mysuru, the Melody Wax Museum is an intriguing blend of art, history, and entertainment. Opened in 2014, this museum offers a unique experience, showcasing a collection of lifelike wax figures that capture the essence of various iconic personalities from different fields.

The Melody Wax Museum is divided into several sections, each dedicated to different themes. The primary attraction is its impressive array of wax figures, which include celebrities from Bollywood, prominent historical figures, and notable personalities from various walks of life. As you walk through the museum, you encounter lifelike replicas of famous figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, and popular Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Each figure is meticulously crafted, showcasing remarkable attention to detail in terms of facial expressions, attire, and posture.

One of the museum's most impressive features is its focus on Indian cinema and music. The Bollywood section is particularly vibrant, with figures of legendary actors and musicians, making it a delightful experience for fans of Indian cinema. Additionally, the museum also celebrates international personalities, which adds a global touch to its collection. This aspect ensures that visitors from different backgrounds find something of interest.

The museum’s design and layout are well thought out, with each section providing informative plaques that offer insight into the lives and achievements of the figures displayed. This educational aspect is a significant plus, as it transforms the museum experience from merely observing wax figures to learning about the contributions and impact of these notable individuals. The museum also features interactive elements and photo opportunities, which enhance the visitor experience and make the museum an enjoyable place for families and groups.

The ambiance of the Melody Wax Museum is both engaging and entertaining. The lighting and arrangement of the figures create a lifelike and immersive atmosphere, making it easy for visitors to feel as if they are in the presence of these renowned personalities. The museum’s attention to detail extends to the props and backgrounds, which are carefully chosen to complement the figures and create a more authentic experience.

However, while the museum has many strengths, there are areas where it could improve. Some visitors might find the collection a bit limited compared to other international wax museums, and the museum's focus is heavily skewed towards Bollywood and Indian figures. Expanding the range of personalities and historical figures could enhance the museum’s appeal to a broader audience. Additionally, the museum could benefit from more interactive exhibits or digital elements that engage visitors in new and innovative ways.

In terms of practical aspects, the museum is easily accessible and well-maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the ticket prices are reasonable, making it a good value for money. The museum also offers a gift shop and refreshment area, which adds to the overall convenience and enjoyment of the visit.

Overall, the Melody Wax Museum in Mysuru offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of wax artistry and celebrity culture. It is a must-visit for fans of Indian cinema, history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in seeing lifelike representations of famous personalities. Despite a few areas for improvement, the museum provides an enjoyable and educational experience that is well...

Melody World Wax Museum, located in Mysore, is a unique and fascinating attraction that stands apart from conventional wax museums. Unlike the traditional focus on celebrities and historical figures, this museum is dedicated to the theme of music, making it a delightful visit for music lovers and culture enthusiasts.

Spanning three floors, the museum houses an eclectic collection of life-size wax figures representing various forms of music from across the globe. Each floor is themed differently, showcasing a wide range of musical cultures and histories. From tribal to Indian classical, from contemporary pop to traditional folk, the museum provides a comprehensive overview of the world's musical diversity.

One of the most striking aspects of Melody World Wax Museum is the attention to detail in the wax figures and the settings they are placed in. The figures are dressed in appropriate attire, complete with musical instruments, creating a realistic portrayal of each genre. The ambiance is further enhanced by background music corresponding to each section, immersing visitors in a complete sensory experience.

However, while the museum is innovative in its concept and execution, it faces some limitations. The lighting in some areas is not optimal, which can detract from the experience of viewing the wax figures. Additionally, the information provided alongside the displays, while informative, could be more detailed to enrich the educational aspect of the museum.

In terms of accessibility, the museum is located a bit away from the main city center, but it is easily reachable by local transport. The entrance fee is reasonable, making it an affordable attraction for families and tourists.

In conclusion, Melody World Wax Museum offers a unique and enjoyable experience, especially for those with an interest in music and culture. While there are areas for improvement, the museum's novel theme and engaging displays make it a worthwhile...

The museum has over 1200 instruments from around the world and claims to have the largest collection in India. There’s a horror show that is not worth the visit, and a ‘vortex’ which was actually cool. As a foreigner the 200 rupee fee was reasonable to see everything, much more and i would have been disappointed. If I returned it would just be the music part for only 60 rupees. Now, if melody world sees this review I have a few comments… and please know these are suggestions from a musican who enjoyed the museum, not complaints. First take better care of those precious instruments! Some are obviously in disrepair, and everything is dusty. What you have is special and hopefully will be preserved for future generations but not in the state I saw them in today. Maybe visitation is low because of Covid, but I urge you to take better care. Also there are some items mislabeled either with the wrong name or wrong place of origin (like Cuban bongos are with the middle eastern area but should be with the Latin America area), and many items are not labeled. To further your mission of inspiring kids to learn music please update signage so they know the right name and origin of the instrument. What about having some recorded music along with the presentations so people can hear what these instruments sound like? Your Indian visitors may not be familiar with the styles of music from other countries, and your foreign visitors may not be familiar with the different Indian styles. Maybe a hands on section so people can make some noise and really be inspired? I would love to try the pump organs you have. Lastly your categorization could use an update. It would be fascinating for instance to see a timeline of drums, or stringed instruments rather than have them all scattered about. Maybe close the horror show altogether and focus on the music cause you have a wonderful collection and the horror show was a complete waste...

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT MELODY WAX MUSEUM Before I share my experience, I want to recollect few words - "beautiful", "proud", "amazing skills", "rich heritage", "salute". These are the feeling with which I came out after a detailed visit to Melody Wax Museum. I leave it to my readers if you still want to read the review further, or just want to visit and experience. Having said that, let me share some more details about my experience at Melody Wax Museum. This is a delayed post. I visited Melody Wax Museum before the Corona pandemic and lock-down. Please stay at home and stay safe this till these bad times are over. This is a beautiful wax statue and musical instruments' museum housed in a cozy 100 year old private house at Mysuru. The museum is setup and maintained without any government aid my its owners - Mr and Mrs Mahesh Urs. Museum displays more than 1200 different musical instruments collected my the Mr and Mrs Urs for over 15 years. The collection of musical instruments include modern, traditional, community ingenious and some extremely rare musical instruments - all maintained very well and in working condition. Wax museum is sponsored and owned by Mr Shreeji Bhaskaran who has made wax statues by himself and making of wax statues is his hobby. Wax statues include delicately created life-size statues of famous personalities and community setups depicting lifestyles of communities. Whole museum and its collection is amazing. For any visitor, it will give a beautiful walk through the rich heritage and culture. This is particularly important to be visited by children who would get loads of knowledge by visiting through every corner of this museum. I wholeheartedly express my gratitude to Mr and Mrs Mahesh Urs and Mr Shreeji Bhaskaran for making their hobby public and giving an opportunity to everyone to admire the rich heritage and culture.
