Beautiful statue located on the bank of lake Bhishma. There is a boating fecility in lake and some other statues beneath the main statue that explains about biography. One can't really call it an 'attraction' but the statue of histric figure Basavanna that was recently installed is a striking image on a busy junction and indicates to the travelers that they are at Gadag entrance. This staute in famous at Gadag city entrance c portrays Great Poet Basavanna huge statue. The statue is quite big and is a respect for the 18 th century poet who was actively invnolved in social reforms in Mysore region at that time.

[ (Source Greendust) Gadag has improved its green corridors in recent times and city infrastructure in terms of road connectivity , trains is way good than it was before. BASAVESHWAR STATUE is located just inside main city entrance and easily visible when you enter Gadag city . The statue looks great when viewed from certain distance and also close up look . The area surrounding statue is covered with artificial water bodies and made arrangements for boating by local authorities. Local people spend time for walking , jogging around the statue and enjoy boating . The pricing of boating is 85/per person for 30-45 minutes which might vary . There are couple of other great temples and monuments surrounding Gadag which could be clubbed to watch on same day . Happy...

This massive statue of Basaveshwara is very visible from most parts of town when you come in by bus. It's not far from the bus stand and behind Bheeshma lake. From far it looks like the statue is in the lake but it is in a park behind it. The statue is in a park which has an entrance ticket of Rs. 10/- At the base of the statue is a circular museum with the life story of Basaveshwara who was a very strong spiritual leader of people of North Karnataka. The life story is conveyed via a series of stills depicted by concrete sculptures and painted backgrounds (similar to comic books). The sculptures are very life like and well done. Really worth having a look even if you know little about Basavanna. The garden around looks good but you are not allowed on it. Photography is allowed inside. The park is open only upto around 6 pm. The lake is good place to hang out at sunset and...

This humongous 100+ ft statue of the great Basaveswara can be seen from a mile away. The place is open to tourists from 10 AM and will be open till 6PM. I was there a bit earlier after visiting Saraswati Temple which is only of 10 mins of walking distance. The lady in charge seems punctual as she came at exact time. There is a small entry fee. The place is well maintained. The statue has a great view as it is situated by the side of a lake and surrounded by a park and lawn. There is a shrine and museum dedicated to Basaveswara. The ideal time to visit will be after 4.00 PM as the heat will settle and breeze will be there. The lake is open to boating which is really worth spending the evening. I had no time as I had to visit many other places so went there in the morning. The day was very bright but my energy was saved by cool wind and the nice weather...
