I recently visited the Jatayu Earth Center, located about a thousand feet above sea level. The site offers two ways to reach the top: a cable car ride for ₹555 plus tax, or a walkway path combined with the sculpture visit for around ₹235 per person. The walkway involves a climb of approximately 826 steps over 1 km. The final 200 steps are particularly challenging due to their steep incline and lack of shade. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top, so I recommend the cable car for seniors, parents with infants, or anyone who has traveled a long distance, as the climb can be quite strenuous if you’re not accustomed to exercise. Note that only cash is accepted, so make sure to bring enough with you since online ticket purchases are not available. The center is open until 4:30 PM, and visiting in the morning or late afternoon is advisable to avoid the midday heat. At the top, there’s a shop where you can purchase lemon juice and snacks for around ₹40. The Jatayu sculpture is enormous and breathtaking, offering fantastic views of the surrounding area. There’s also a Ram Mandir where it’s said Lord Ram’s footprints are preserved—just be cautious of the monkeys in the area. An ISKCON store is available for souvenirs, and there are plenty of seating areas to enjoy the view. Free water is provided at several points along the path. The toilets are clean and well-maintained, both at the entry point and at the top. Plastic bottles are not allowed beyond the entry point. A cloakroom is available at the entrance for luggage storage. The main downside is the high entry fee of ₹325, which can feel steep. Additionally, there are no first aid or medical facilities along the walkway, which is a bit concerning. Comfortable clothing and good preparation are essential if you choose the walkway. Overall, despite the cost and lack of medical facilities, the visit is worthwhile for the stunning views and impressive sculpture.
