Mappila Bay (Moppila Bay) is a natural harbor situated in Kannur On one side of the bay is Fort St. Angelo, built by the Portuguese in the 15th century & on the other side is the Arakkal Palace.
A high wall extends into the sea from the adjacent Kannur Fort. It separates rough sea & inland water, so that boats could be anchored safely.
There are Boating options within the bay area Nowadays it is more of a fishing harbour than a sightseeing spot. You can walk around the bay, watching the fishermen mend their nets & sort their catch.
