Designed to satiate the tastes of both children and adults, Meenpidi para is nestled on a river side. Maintained by DTPC, Kollam, the place encompasses almost everything that makes a weekend relaxed. It is a small park with a pool waterfalls inside (you won't see a plunge falls, rather a running waterbody). It is a good spot for parents with small kids as kids can utilise the play area with swings, trampoline and a lot more items. There is also a small bridge where one can click pictures. Even though it is repeatedly placed everywhere not to throw plastic anywhere, we could see some plastic around. The pathway is paved with stones and there are stone benches on the way. They have planted some plants and there were butterflies around it. There is built in toilets for both men and women. Beware of the parking offered by the locals at a rate of ₹20/-. You will get parking down the place offered by DTPC. In the middle of the water stands a statue of a fish with a fish hook in its mouth signifying the name of the place. The water flows through the concrete boundaries made and hence appearing as a check dam. Have got no towel and shorts to get in water? No worrries, you will get everything inside the premises. Also refreshments like tea, coffee and snacks. Owing to the weekend, it was crowded. It's a leisure area for those...
Read moreThis place comes under DTPC Kollam and they are in a stage of developing this place. So they haven't started collecting entry fees. This place is near Kottarakara town and google map shows exact location and there is also board placed by DTPC showing direction at every turn. This place is a little away from city and so the road is a little narrow and all the roads are either tarred or concreted. But the biggest problem is parking. There is no space allocated for parking. You have to park in the side of a very narrow concrete road and also it is very hard to turn the vehicle back. We can park our vehicle a little away from the spot but we have to walk around 500mts straight uphill which is greatly exhausting especially if we have kids with us. Now about the place, this place is perfect to hangout with family and children. I don't reccomend peoples to come with friends, as they may find it pretty boring. There is a good walkway surronded by trees and water. Also there are two small parks for kids. But never visit this place in afternoons especially on sunny days. There is not even a nearby shop to buy even water. So better carry a bottle of water while comimg here. Also try to come at rainy times as there will be clean flowing water otherwise you may find the still...

The setting feels untouched and pristine, with lush greenery and scenic views that leave visitors in awe. However, one slight drawback is the narrow road leading to the spot.
