Mountain Hiking Through Tea Plantation - MunnarInfo.in — Attraction in Kerala

We had the most amazing full day trek with our guide Shiva. The company organised a tuk tuk to collect us in the morning and take us to the start of our walk. We climbed up through tea plantations, over a mountain and down through a breathtakingly beautiful tea plantation into Munnar centre. Shiva gave us options for the route we took along the way so we were able to adapt the walk to our own preferences. We had plenty of opportunities to rest and take in the stunning sites around us. Shiva is an excellent guide, he has a fantastic knowledge of local history and of the plants we passed along the way, he frequently showed us the plants used in Ayurvedic medicine and discussed their properties. The walk we took was difficult due to the steep climb but exactly what we had been hoping for, if you have concerns regarding the difficulty the guides will be happy to tailor the walk to your requirements. We had lunch in a lovely pure veg restaurant before visiting a tea factory which Shiva advised us on and helped to arrange our tuk tuk to and from the factory back to our lodgings. This was definitely the most enjoyable thing we have experienced so far in Kerala and cannot recommend it enough!!...

We hired a guide through Viator based on the reviews I had seen saying it was on private land. I also recommend having a guide as you do travel through tea plantations on both sides of mount Lakshmi as well as private land and a resort. We started on the lower side which is the way to go if you are looking for a real hike up the mountain. Our guide Vijay was very knowledgeable about the area, plants, & trees. He was one of the best guides we've had on our adventures. The views were stunning on our ascent and descent on the walk down to Munnar through the tea...
