Outside Lonar city, near Ambar Lake, this is the oldest sleeping Hanuman temple found by Govind Bhikaji Kanitkar (Buwa). This is a unique idol with magnetic stone. It is believed that the stone came out at the time of creation of Lonar crator naturally. There is a small Devi/godess idol at the feet of Lord Hanuman, which is a symbolic representation of Ahirawan and Mahirawan story. The size of the sleeping idol is approximately 8.25x4.25 feet. At the head of the idol, there are small idols of Lord Rama,...

Ambar Lake There is a small circular depression at a distance of around 700m from the main lake, believed to be caused by a splinter of the meteor that hit the ground to also make a crater. There is a Sleeping Maruti temple near this lake, with the idol made of rock believed to be highly magnetic. The water from Ambar lake is being drained by local farmers. This lake is sometimes also called as Chhota (little)...

Very old Hanuman temple. The speciality of this temple is that the Hanuman idol is lying down. It's a family owned temple. Some years back the sindoor deposits weighing 25 quintal was removed and then the exact form of idol was discovered. This temple should definitely be visited in Lonar

A very calm place. The temple is remote away from the Lonar town. The Maruti idol is unique in sense it's laying down in front of Sita Ram Laxman idols. The idol is huge approx 9ft. It is supposed to be carved out of the basaltic rock from the Lonar crater and is supposedly magnetic.

The sleeping Hanuman temple is another great attraction in Lonar. I am yet to find the details of the historical importance of this temple. However, it’s a great feeling visiting this temple.
