Read moreAnjarle is nearly 220 kms away from Pune and as per google map it should take 6 hrs to reach. We started around 5 pm from Pune however due to poor road condition it was not possible to drive continuously and sometimes the speedometer went down to 20kmph. It was very tiredsome and after travelleing 6 hrs we reached only midway. So we planned to board in some hotel and took rest for the night. Next day morning, we started around 8am and reached Anjarle at 12pm. Christmas vacation was going on so we did advance booking at Todankar Jai Bhandari homestay for our stay in Anjarle. It was bang on the beach. Basic homestays are mostly available in the beach area run by local people as tourism has not yet vastly developed here. Being not so popular tourist place, only local cuisines are easily available here. Accomoation and food both were pocket-friendly. I found Anjarle one of the clean and virgin beaches of Maharashtra. There were no water sports in Anjarle although people were playing beach volleyball and cricket on the beach. Water was crystal clear. Due to less crowd, beach was clean and quiet. We obeserved one fantastic sunset from Anjarle beach. The place was safe and ideal for family and friends. Next day morning, we walked through the beach and reached to the place where sea water was meeting backwaters. It was an ideal place where in one side non-stop waves of Arabian Sea were hitting the sea-shore and on the other side, water was calm and quiet. We spotted some Seagulls and Sandpipers on the beach. The view was breathetaking. From the locales we came to know that every year Turtle Festival is conducted at Anjarle beach in the month of March. In that festival, they conserve eggs and after maturity hatchlings are released into the sea under the supervision of the volunteers. Witnessing the birth of these tiny turtles and their maiden journey towards the sea is a sight to behold. I would definitely love to witness the festival once in my lifetime however it is true that the memories of my last visit will remain forever...
Read moreAnjarle Beach, nestled along Maharashtraâs pristine Konkan coast, may not be as well-known as other touristy beaches, but its untouched charm and natural beauty make it one of the regionâs best-kept secrets. Located about five hours from both Mumbai and Pune, Anjarle is the perfect escape for travelers looking for peace, nature, and an authentic coastal experience away from the crowds.
Fringed with swaying coconut palms and bordered by the tranquil estuary of the Jog River, the beach stretches wide with soft white sand and clear blue waters. Itâs a haven of calm where you can walk barefoot along the shore, enjoy a quiet swim, or simply relax under the shade of trees with the sound of the waves as your background.
One of Anjarleâs most unique attractions is the annual Turtle Festival, held around April and May. During this time, you can witness the release of endangered Olive Ridley turtle hatchlings into the sea at sunriseâa rare and touching experience that draws conservationists and nature lovers alike. The beach is also occasionally visited by dolphins, and boat rides offer a chance to spot these playful creatures in their natural habitat.
Though largely uncommercialized, Anjarle still offers a few simple water sports and boating activities. The adjacent creek is a quiet spot for birdwatching and watching local fishermen at work, especially during the vibrant late-afternoon fish auctions.
As the day winds down, the sunset at Anjarle turns the sky into a painting of oranges and purples, with the sound of the waves providing a perfect soundtrack. Itâs the kind of moment that feels timelessâwhere you can truly disconnect and just be.
