Shree Mandhar Devi Kalubai Mandir, perched atop a rugged hill near Patta Fort (Vishramgad) in Maharashtra, offers a serene blend of spirituality, history, and breathtaking views. Rising approximately 4,650 ft above sea level—similar to its namesake in Satara—the temple commands sweeping vistas of the Sahyadri range, including Purandar and Pandavgad forts
The trek up to the shrine is accessible and well-defined, with a winding path that tests your stamina yet rewards you with panoramic beauty. As you ascend, the crisp mountain air, rustling shrubs, and occasional animal calls create a meditative atmosphere.
At the temple, devotees pause to present coconuts, oil lamps, and silk offerings. The central idol of Kaleshwari Devi—affectionately called Kalubai—wears two silver masks and gleaming silk attire. These masks are a distinctive feature and are ceremonially carried by the hereditary Gurav priests during rituals
The temple's history likely dates back over 400 years to Shivaji’s Maratha era, adding rich historical context to its spiritual aura
Annual festivals like the Kalubai Jatra during Paush Poornima (January) attract tens of thousands for devotional singing, ritual offerings of puran poli and curd rice, and intense 24‑hour worship on the full moon
Beyond the spiritual draw, the temple site provides ample space for reflection—benches, shaded rest points, and majestic hilltop views perfect for photography or peaceful solitude.
In summary, Shree Mandhar Devi Kalubai Mandir near Patta Fort is a delightful pilgrimage: a manageable mountain trek, a temple of significant folklore and history, and a vantage point offering visual rewards and inner calm. Ideal for devotees, trekkers, and anyone seeking a peaceful yet powerful experience in the lap of the...
Read moreI recently visited Shri Mandhardevi Kalubai Mandir located in Narhegaon, Pune, and it was a peaceful and spiritually uplifting experience. The temple is dedicated to Kalubai Devi, who is considered the kuldevi (family goddess) by many local families.
The temple is situated in a slightly elevated area, offering a serene view of the surroundings. The main deity’s idol is beautifully decorated, and the vibe inside the sanctum is truly divine. I visited on a weekday, so it wasn’t too crowded, which allowed me to spend some quiet time offering prayers.
The temple premises are clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by greenery. There are small stalls outside the temple selling flowers, prasad, and pooja items. Locals were kind and helpful, guiding us through the temple customs.
What I liked the most was the peaceful environment, away from city chaos – perfect for someone seeking a short spiritual break. There’s also a nice space to sit and relax after darshan.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting this temple – whether you are religious or simply looking for a calm place to reflect...

Recently visited Shri. Kalubai temple. The road from Bhor to Mandhardevi temple is under construction. Specially, the ghat road is not in good condition for travel. Car cannot climb due to big muddy road. The ghat road has become dangerous. I recommend to take the route via Wai ghat. Wai road is in better condition. Temple management has done good job for maintaining temple premises. There is ample Parking space for Cars and two wheelers at the top. There is entry fees and separate parking fees. If you plan to visit during Pournima or special days, plan in advance. There is no management and taking out your car may take cople of hours. There are decent restaurants near the temple. You can take VIP darshan by paying Rs. 200 per person. Weather conditions are very cold so carry warm clothes and also keep umbrella for passing showers. Rest all stress and tiredness will vanish after you...
