Trip to Harishchandragad from Pune in Car – 8th February 2025
We did a night trek to Harishchandragad, leaving Pune at 6 PM on Friday. We reached Paanchai base around 12:30 AM, hired a guide, and started the trek at 1:30 AM without any sleep.
The plan was to visit Taramati Peak, Konkankada, and Kedareshwar Temple. We reached Taramati Peak by 5 AM, had a small bonfire in the peak, and slept for a bit until 6:30 AM. We watched the sunrise at 7 AM and then headed down to Konkankada. After 30 minutes, we headed to Kedareshwar Temple. Our guide provided breakfast in temple, and we started our return journey at 10:45 AM, reaching Paanchai village by 12 PM. After freshening up, we left for Pune and arrived by 5:30 PM. A full day trek was completed.
Key Tips: Night treks are the most convenient and safe. It’s advised to book a guide in the village. They help with the route and even arrange tents at Konkankada for a stay (though we didn’t stay due to time constraints). Reasonable charges. The trek is fairly easy, but the last stretch to Taramati Peak is a bit tough but manageable. The Paanchai trek route is considered easier than other routes. Use head lights for night Trek. Don't use mobile...

The views are absolutely mesmerising and it takes around 30-40 mins to climb from Harishchandragad. The climb is not very easy and you may need to catch a breath or two.
You get a 360 degree view from the peak and can spot Kalsubai, Jivdhan and some other forts if the weather is clear. It’s generally very windy atop and the view from here make you forget the tiredness...
