I recently visited Tungarli dam, and I was impressed by its beauty. The dam is located in a scenic spot in the Western Ghats, and it is surrounded by lush greenery. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season, when the dam is full of water. The water reflects the surrounding hills and trees, creating a truly stunning sight.

There is a small trail that leads to the top of the dam, but it can be steep and slippery, so it is important to be careful. Once you reach the top of the dam, you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding area. It is a truly peaceful and relaxing place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature.

Here are some additional tips for visiting Tungarli dam:

Wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in. Bring a raincoat or umbrella, as it can rain during the monsoon season. Be careful of the slippery rocks. Do not climb on the dam wall. Be respectful of the wildlife in the area. Here are some of the pros and cons of visiting Tungarli dam:

Pros:

Beautiful scenery Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere Good place for a picnic or hike Free to visit Cons:

Road to the dam is narrow and winding Dam wall is not safe for climbing Can be crowded during peak seasons Garbage is a problem around the dam Overall, Tungarli dam is a beautiful place that is worth visiting. However, it is important to be aware of the risks and take precautions...

Nothing much to see here. It is a small rain-fed lake. This also means that it is rarely full. It will be full only during July-August, if there has been heavy rainfall during the monsoon. During most times of the year, it will be around half filled or less, with very little water. You will mostly see the reddish-brown lake bed with some water around.

And the worst part is that the access road(if it can be called a road) is very bad, to put it mildly. The road steeply goes uphill to the base of the dam. During this steep incline, the road is non existent. There are massive rocks, potholes and non-metalled stretches. If you are driving uphill here, your car would complain very strongly, if it could speak. The car floor, brakes, clutch, tyres and shock absorbers take a huge pounding when you drive here. To add to it, the road is very narrow. So, if you are driving uphill and there is a car coming downhill, it is a major struggle to proceed, especially for the car going uphill because there is no space and the road practically does not exist! It is also not at all safe for two wheelers due to the road conditions mentioned above.

Rather than go to this place, it is better to go to the major tourist spots of...

The calm waters of the reservoir add to the serenity of the place, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and photographers.

From an engineering perspective, the Tungarli Dam is a remarkable feat. The well-built wall stands tall, showcasing the expertise and precision of its constructors. The dam serves as a significant water source for the region, contributing to irrigation and hydroelectric power generation.

Overall, my experience at Tungarli Dam was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're seeking solace in nature's embrace or marveling at human ingenuity, this place has it all. I recommend a visit to this awe-inspiring destination...

This is a beautiful small dam. It is very near from Lonavala Main market. The approach road near the dam is very narrow and very bad. The dam is very old but surrounding offers very beautiful scenery. Water was clean. It must be more beautiful during monsoon, that we can imagine as I visited in winter. We can actually go over the dam. It is a beautiful place to visit. As roads are narrow there is no parking near the dam. There was no much crowd and it was peaceful place. Dam is surrounded by small hills and lots of greenery.
