Mata Lal Devi Mandir, located in the vibrant city of Amritsar, Punjab, is a sanctuary of spiritual serenity and a testament to the enduring legacy of Mata Lal Devi, a revered 20th-century female saint. Born in 1923 in Kasoor, Lahore district of Pakistan, Mata Lal Devi’s life was marked by asceticism, as she subsisted solely on fruits and milk. After the partition, she moved to Amritsar, where she attained nirvana in 199412. The temple, often referred to as the ā€œSheesh Mahal of Amritsarā€ or a miniature version of the Vaishno Devi shrine, is a marvel of intricate mirror work and vibrant colors. It is particularly renowned for its miraculous fertility-improving powers, drawing countless women who wish to start families13. The journey to the main shrine is an experience in itself, with pathways adorned with statues, paintings, and artifacts that depict the life of Saint Lal Devi. Devotees navigate through man-made caves, waterways, and tunnels, often having to crawl or kneel, which adds to the temple’s mystical aura2. Open daily from 5 am to 11 pm, the temple welcomes visitors without an entry fee, allowing everyone to partake in its spiritual offerings. The best time to visit is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant, and the city buzzes with festivities like Navratri and Baisakhi1. Mata Lal Devi Mandir is not just a place of worship but a cultural landmark that embodies the rich tapestry of Amritsar’s religious diversity. It stands as a beacon of hope and faith, inviting all to witness the power of devotion and the beauty of...

The temple is located in Model Town and is easily accessible from the Grand Trunk Road. It is 2 kms. from Amritsar Railway Station. The temple is open from dawn at 0500hours to night 2300 hours. The temple is the replica of Jammu's Mata Vaishno Devi and is dedicated to female saint of 20th century Mata Lal Devi. There is a good arrangement for keeping luggage, footwear, drinking water facilities, washing facilities. There is a provision of Food also as Bhandara. You can purchase sweets, etc.,as prasad. Everything in food is prepared by the trust and strict hygiene is maintained . There is a coupon system and sweets are prepared in pure ghee. There is proper maintenance of entry and exit points and people visiting the temple are properly guided. The temple is decorated with lots of mirrors and with colourful lights on the mirrors the temple gets an amazing look. All Hindu gods and goddesses are there in the temple in all the forms. One gets a nice experience of peace and tranquility. No photography even with mobile is allowed inside the temple.

It's such a beautiful and amazing temple. The ambience is very peaceful specially when you take a holi book and start reading it. The Prasad and the nearby sweet shop plus the small shops of toys, traditional jwelleries, streets food vendors. They all make it place which...

At a distance of 1 km from Amritsar Junction and 3.5 km from Harmandir Sahib, Mata Lal Devi Mandir is a sacred Hindu temple situated in Rani Ka Bagh, Amritsar. Popularly known as Pujya Mata Ji, Lal Devi Mandir is one of the top religious places to visit in Amritsar. It's such a beautiful and amazing temple. The ambience is very peaceful specially for those who have not visited every gods places. In this place there is a very nice ambience and little confusion inside but go through the guidance you feel almost katra vaishno devi feeling. This place is certainly a must visit on Amritsar trip. It has almost all the pilgrimage places and each one has been properly labelled so you know what you are seeing. And Mata Vaishno Mandir has been built equally well. The main Mata Lal Devi mandir is on the ground floor while for other temples you need to climb upstairs. Some parts of the temple need you to enter a cave sort of structure with water on the floor.

For a non-Hindu, foreign visitor, this will probably blow your mind. We summarised it as a mini-Hindu, Disneyland. If you wanted to get Hindu kids excited about visiting a temple, this is exactly how you would do it! Young Western kids may be a little unnerved by the experience though. Leave your shoes at the free counter, then follow the locals up a narrow staircase on the left. It will lead you through a fun filled labyrinth of spirituality. The walk takes you through artifical caverns of fascinating small shrines, sculptures and artwork honoring the dieities, including one short tunnel where you have to crawl on your hands and knees. Don't worry, that part it's not too claustrophobic, but elderly tourists may think twice. The whole barefoot walk took maybe 40 minutes but was well lit and ventilated. This attraction easily made our top 3 for Amritsar. So glad we visited.
